Have been racking my brains (didn't take long) to try and think of a job I can do while travelling.

I am fairly handy on a computer, as in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint & Outlook. Have done a bit of website content stuff, not creating a website just imputing content, even a bit of forum moderating for the local running club.

I have done an internet research but cannot find an agency in the UK that specialises in this type of remote working. There is one in America but it seems like a bidding site where workers bid for the work, so probably end up working for peanuts trying to out bid each other by offering to do the work for such a low rate it's not worth it.

Has anyone heard or know of such an agency, or any better ideas I would be most grateful if you could let me know.

My Sister-in-law proof reads magazine articles as income whilst she's a stay-at-home Mum.
Not sure how well it pays though.

Always thought one of those computerised embroidery machines would earn there keep in a motorhome. Baseball caps and Tshirts with Hymer, Burstner etc on them.

smuggling ive heard it pays well and has a pension where the government will give you board and lodging if you lose your job.

Dont know where your traveling to but what about house sitting or should i say parking your MH on someones drive and watching their house while they are on holiday. Im sure someone on here did this but its probably a couple of years ago, or casual campsite wardens to cover busy times, sickness and holiday.

I did think about campsite work and I wouldn't mind that type of work, but in this country as we need to be in the UK during the summer for Colin's work. The hope is to travel from Oct/Nov to the end of March (ish). In the summer we could just move around the UK depending on where Colin's work takes him. I thought if I could earn a bit working remotely it wouldn't matter where Colin's work was.

Really!!?

I know it may sound daft, but I know a Dutch couple who have made a very lucrative living from just that. Whenever they are on a campsite they do the campsite workers T shirts and baseball caps. Campers are always asking for baseball caps with the make of motorhome embroidered on them. They run an old Hymer 694 and have the machine set up in the rear lounge. The other one was the Ausi who went round all the motorhome shows making graphics. I used to see him in Spain in the winter. If I had the mind I could earn a very good living from a motorhome. Thankfully I don't need it but don't mind passing on ideas.

I looked at this Broken Link Removed deliveries all over uk and Europe , you sign up and then bid for jobs delivering anything from an envelope to a whole house move, it's ok if you can find that's going where you are:thumb:

Firstly of what limitations any work may place on you, then there's things like what the view of your insurer would be as you will then be using your MH as a business vehicle and will also need to cover the contents which you use for your business too - it will cost you more but I'm not sure how much.

PC based work isn't always that easy and can be very tiring, you'd also need to have reliable equipment and internet links. Website work is very competitive and you have to be on call usually 24/7 so again can be restrictive.

Depending on where you are you could look for some sort of seasonal work in the vicinity. Other options could be to do some buying and selling, again though it depends on what/where/how you could do this.

Another option and one I have considered in the past, is security at the homes of others who are out and about on their own travels.
There's a company who will pay you to park your unit and yourself on their client's property and do nothing more than be a presence and a set of eyes and ears.

I think you will struggle to find paid work in the winter - the demand is always in summer, whether that is linked to the tourist trade or agriculture.

I can only think of some sort of craft work, making the stock in the winter then flogging it in the summer. Jewellery is the obvious one. Look round craft fairs and country shows for what sells, what you could learn to do and what doesn't take up too much space. It is a crowded market though so don't expect to make a fortune but it could keep you sane in the dark of winter.

Oh yeah! I can just imagine that. You lot turning up, not booked, wanting wifi signal, tv signal, parking diagonally backwards across the pitch, running all the pitch markers over on your way in or out.

What else is there....... Laughing loadly after 10:30pm, scaring all the caravaners, tripping over the tents and the worst sin of all - SINGING :Eeek:

I am supposed to wander over in my lovely bottle green polo shirt and ask you to behave. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I am as artistic as a house brick, but thanks for the suggestions. My aim is to work during the summer, we will be travelling abroad during the winter (I hope).

I've seen these advertised in the club magazines but after looking into it you need to get an SIA security licence, of course naturally they provide the training at a cost, seems nothing more than a way for them to flog a training course, I know one fellow did it on one of the campsites we were on and he got one job guarding a TV set miles away in all the time he was signed up.

This is the one I looked at but I'm sure there are many more out there.... http://www.hgsecurity.co.uk/

As someone else has already said, you will need to have an SIA licence of some sort and be CRB checked.
Cost of the licence / course will depend upon which classification is required but some of the lower levels of training don't usually involve too much initial outlay.
You can arrange this yourself along with your CRB Check or the company should be able to assist.
If you gain some experience with someone like the company in the attached link, there's no reason why you can't set yourself up in business if you're that way inclined.

buy up as many brollies and windbreaks as you can get your hands on, then go to Morocco in the winter and flog them there...could have made a fortune this year judging by the Morocco thread

That's interesting what full timer said as we had seen the advert for house sitters but must have sia licence and wondered if it paid to do it. There seems to be more camp sites that want you to clean shower block etc just for a free pitch, I guess somebody must do it. Seems very low pay.

Thanks Cinderz, this is the kind of thing had in mind. I have booked marked a few agencies.

I have also heard about people who do website loading for some companies, so think there might be one or options. I need to dig further to see if. I need to do a bit of training or if my experience is enough.
