I had a look under her skirts and there is a lot of black painted wood/possibly chipboard.

As I have her in a nice dry shed for a wee while yet and her bottom is nice and dry I thought about giving her a coat of something, and I might not get a chance like it again.

I was looking at products in Homebase, then I thought, I should ask the forum.

Thanks in advance.

I certainly hope its not chipboard !!! It should be plywood and should be painted / treated with something that allows the plywwod to breath so if water gets in it must be able to get out and then dry unfortunately most of the products you get in home base are designed to seal the wood so it will not breath, I would have a poke and see if the plywood is soft and if not leave well alone. But I'm no expert

spray on black waxoyl or a similar product is the ideal thing to use. wood stain and preserver does not work with salt and road dirt

doesnt need anything really.

Its the same stuff trailer floors are made of.......PHENOLIC RESIN PLYWOOD.

Very strong and waterproofed.

There is a proper/generic name for it but it escapes me at the moment

Thanks already, Just as well I asked :Eeek:

It all seems sound enough specially the floor, but there are bits round the skirts that look a bit bare, if it was on the house I'd be slapping on Cuprinol, Sadolin, or similar.

Waxoyl is that ok on the wood bits ? Does it breathe ? Doesn't it make things a bit mucky for working on thereafter ?

If it is phenolic faced garudaform or similar as papajohn says I would not worry and just leave alone but keep a check on it

if water can get into the ply its too late to start sealing it.
