:Smile: My base vehicle needs 5w 40 oil.......my generator needs 10w 40, rather than carry two different lots of oil. Can I just use one? If so, which ? and why and what is the difference ? Please folks don't say 5.::bigsmile:

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
5w 40 is fully synthetic oil, whereas 10w 40 is semi-synthetic. Cant see a problem with you using 5w 40 in your genny. My car is semi-synthetic, but I do top ups with the full stuff, no probs.
The only problem may have occurred if one of your applications required mineral oil.

::bigsmile:Thanks Tootles, your a star :thanks2:

Yes, I know............:Blush::Blush::Blush::Blush:

Just as a footnote, 5w is thinner, and so keep your eye on the genny oil level a bit more often.
