Mrs t has just started using an e-cig

Don't want to start a debate re tobacco

And smoking .

But as a previous smoker haven't for 23 yrs

She puts the e cig down on the coffee table

Goes about her business comes back

The number of times I've been tempted to

Pick it up to see what it's like

Especially when I charged it and set it up

Apparently you have to have a couple of
Draws before it works initially
Without thinking i nearly had a puff
As tempers frayed ( no fags left )

Just thought I'd share it with you

You have managed to resist Mrs Ts cigarettes for all these years so why even think of how these gadgets would make you feel. Like you I am a non smoker, I am not tempted why are you. Forget it,:thumb: it is Mrs Ts addiction not yours. Tell her to do it in the garden as leaving it around the house is having an adverse affecting your sanity.:winky:

Thing is I've avoided all temptations of picking up
Cigarets for 23 years .

It was the unguarded moment of getting the thing assembled
Charged for someone who said I'll try them know

The kit that was purchased and sat for 3 years but failed
Fluid seeped and or evaporated

Eventually bought an e lights kit
So she didn't buy cigarets again
She has brilliant smokers cough
And I have been trying for 23 years
For her to become baccy free

Thought we had nearly turned the corner
And there I was nearly succomed by accident

Just a warning it's easy to lapse with them about:thumb:

5 years, feel free to ask me about the Carado!!
e-cigs don't have the many bits of crap that is put into fags to keep you wanting them......and destroy lungs:thumb:

Getting onto them from fags is a good start, getting onto them from not smoking is a bad start.

E-cigs contain the very thing which addicts you to real cigarettes.....nicotine.

'Normal strength e-cigs contain exactly the same amount as tobacoo cigarettes.

in the quantity used in cigs nicotine is a harmless but extremely addictive drug.
its the other ingredients in tobacoo smoke which do harm.

I smoke an e-cig without nicotine (plenty of zero nicotine fluids on offer) or with the lowest dose.....even smelling the smoke from a fag now makes me feel sick.......:thumb:

Tofo, whilst I applaud you for giving up al that time ago, and sticking to it, and also Mrs T for finally giving up normal cigs, can I ask WHEN and WHERE did she smoke them? The reason I ask is that it makes me wonder if you have been a 'passive' smoker for 23 years so indirectly getting your 'fix' and that's why the e-cig is proving to be so tempting to you as 'harmless' addiction? Just curiosity on my part, nothing more, no condemnation or anything else, so please don't take it the wrong way!

As for e-cigs generally, the danger of it becoming 'popular' for those who do NOT smoke has always been a concern since they came out, as they seem to be quite 'fasionable' now especially with all the different 'flavours' etc that are available which to me makes them more like 'sweets' than an aid to giving up altogether. IMV if they stop people from smoking normal cigs, then obviously that is a good thing, but only if it means they stop altogether at some point. :thumb:

It's no problem we had the similar thought today
I was at work for the first twenty years
12 hour shifts5 on or off 3-5 days a week according to rota

Which For me made giving up easier work occupied my mind
And not being able to smoke in folks houses was helpful

Mrs t only ever smoked down staires never up
But I would imagine I have been a passive smoker
for the last three years since retirement

It was the fact that mrs t was cajoled into relenting on tobacco cigarettes
By myself and the dr as she now has a chest infection
With a good smokers cough

3 yearsish back she asked me to take out an offer in a newspaper
For sky cigarettes forget the cost
But they sat in a cupboard gathering dust
After visiting the dr everything just dove tailed the ded was done
I'll give it a go says she

Well the instructions are vague
There is two parts battery stem part with a replaceable tip( fluid container)
Which is Also the mouthpiece

To charge there is a 240 plug with a USB attachment which fits to a box
think cigarette box with 7 holes in 1 for the in use e cig 5 for spare tips
And 1 to charge the battery on

Mrs t was a little tense as she only had two tobacco cigs for that evening
And the following day was e cig start

So the cig was charged both batteries
Then assembled
But the instruction said have two draws to start the e cig
As mrs t was elsewhere and I had been encouraging her
Thoughtless moment
I very nearly started to raise it to my mouth as if to smoke
And thought to myself that bloody hook
Twenty three years I've been dodging cigarettes
Nearly got caught by a plastic cigarette

Mrs t always keeps her fags in the kitchen
Never bothered me I move away from fags in the ashtray
Those would be on the draining board for safety sake

It was just a moments concentration lapse
Then we found out the first didn't work
There were 5 flavours baccy flavour was the choice
Lucky in the second tip there was a little fluid

So as I went in the co-op I asked shall I get a different brand e gig
Which is what happened assembled that and away she went

I have since asked her to put it where she kept her ciggies
So I'm not tempted

Trouble is I keep wondering what it tastes like
If you can understand what I mean curiosity I suppose
But it's a slippery path as I know for twenty three years
I have made a conscious decision not to smoke today
The hook has never gone
admitted my nose dosnt follow others smoke
But so easily could I pick up a cigarette and puff
It's the thought of feeling sick and fuzzy headed that stops me
And the hard work to stay nicotine free

Just another of life's little trials I suppose
Only started to impress a young lady :Eeek::RollEyes:
Didn't work either

I wish her the best of luck trying to stop.
I have been a leper (smoker) for to many years but am now down to about 10 a day.
After a medical chek at the Docs I asked about these ECigs but he stated the medical profession was not in favour of them, yet. They have not been tested and are full of nicotine, much more than normal cigs. Another point he raised was that people who use them do so much more than they would cigs so are taking in much more nicotine than usual. Since they were launched he has had a massive increase in chest related infections caused by these ECigs.
His advice was to wait until they are properly licenced and certified safe. IF they ever receive certification he also stated he would gladly prescribe them as they are cheaper than the courses of patches he offers.

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
Well, I bought an 'epipe' just before Christmas, and have now got a 25 a day habit down to five.
Got to admit, I don't really miss the cigs. Hoping to stop completely, but hey, who cares!! I don't FEEL any better, never had breathing probs anyway, even after running, but I like the pipe, it's very relaxing.

Complete opposite to what three different doctors (one French) and two English anaesthetists told me! (spelling)
