Still only a year after many years camping
We have an end kitchen in our 2003 Autotrail Apache 600, and have found it a bit tight for room for food preparation when we have the TV on the top of the fridge. So I thought I'd make a little modification to give us an extra table top.

Not wanting it to look too out-of-place, I sourced a kitchen cabinet door from B&Q which wasn't a bad match to the motorhome's interior décor. (The camera has exaggerated the colour difference somewhat). A bit of measuring and fettling soon had a cut-out for the door handle and some fittings in place which hold the top in position over the kitchen drawer, and double as storage hooks when not in use.

The new table top is simply placed over the open drawer, and is held in place by its own weight.

OK, you wouldn't want to sit on it, but it's plenty strong enough for holding a couple of plates of food, and some gentle chopping at the sink end. Should make life a bit easier.

Now, we just need a chance to get out and use it!:thumb:

Nice one, man of talent. Wish I was good with Wood but sadly not.

Not bad on a gas axe and welder though.

This is a little project I completed recently, the microwave was too tall for my wife to use safely, and was little used, also there was 12Kg of weight in exactly the wrong place, high up right at the back where we also have the cooker and fridge, so I decided to remove it, this is the unprofessional result..........
The layout can be returned to origional in about half hour as I kept all the old removed items.
We now have extra storage space and still have the 240v socket in there if needed.

Thank you boys and girls. The wood is as good a match as I could find - I just happened to spot the doors in the kitchen section of B&Q! Not cheap though, especially with the price of the edging veneer:whatthe:

It doesn't look as far off as the camera makes it out to be in the second picture. Worth doing as it means we can now prepare the meals and still use the sink (and the wife likes it!):thumb:
