Ignore the no alcohol bit, get a few large glasses of Kwak, comes in a funny glass on a stand, good entertainment and I think over 10%, toothache will be a faint memory

Have fun, probably my favourite continental city

Poor you ,the only one you can't really mix with alcohol is metronidazole, also called flagyl. The reaction is very serious in most people ie profuse vomiting and collapse. It acts like antabuse which used to be given to alcoholics to try to keep them off the booze. If you are just on amoxicillin or clarithromycin you can drink alcohol safely, the worst that would happen is indigestion or loose bowels! Chocolate is a good idea as well of course.

Just as well we have some eagle eyed medical types out there to counter the crazy suggestions of some of us!! :Eeek:

Enjoy the chocolate!!

Had an abcess then?

Little known story....

Th use of antibiotics and the the no alcohol. Other than the metronizadol which is a more modern one.

Anti biotic use became very popular following the war for the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. Gonorrhoea and syphalus
The idea of the do not drink alcohol was designed to stop the ladies and men having a few to many drinks and still having sex whilst being treated for STDs.

Therefore, it was thought that if they didn't drink, then they would not lose their inabitions and hence the treatment would work and the disease not be spread on.

Aug 09 to date 9,000 miles!
That Meta thingy is vile, the tablets are like horse pills, are uncoated and leave an utterly vile taste in your mouth - but they are the AB of choice for certain female thingies.

However the tooth abscess specific one begins with an F and that's OK to take.
No it doesn't - it's Amoxicilin ! LOL - but Metradizanol if you are allergic to penicillin apparently.

Why does the internet say they don't give you ABs now? - they flippin do!

I must X-examine my GP and/or Pharmacist as to the veracity of that tale Paul !

No, we were at Camping Memling. Nice little site with a lovely new shower block. Carrefour around the corner and bus into town.
