Hi
Hope someone can help.
My laptop started crashing whilst browsing.
The last error message was IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
and further down:
STOP: 0X0000000A (0X200A1F37, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0X804E78B8)
if I go to one site DomainParking.co.uk - index.phpthat has a video graphic I can guarantee it will crash.
Running XP Home
Driving me nuts so all help appreciated.

Thanks

Keith

STOP: 0X0000000A is normally indicative of failing hardware or a faulty device driver. Have you done any hardware or software upgrades recently?

SP3 does seem to have caused a lot of people a lot of problems. Particularly those with AMD CPUs. You could try going to Windows Update to see if there are any fixes available, or even uninstalling SP3 to see if that helps.

The fan is running most of the time - is that a clue?

 Yep. It might help if we knew what make the Laptop is? The Toshiba has an upgraded chip in an older Laptop that doesn crash quite often due to the Processor Chip overheating.

In fact. If you think about it? How do most Laptops run without overheating? Most Desktops have an Heat sink on the Processor chip.

It's a Sony Vaio PCG-FX502 1Ghz - but taking the links Jim gave looks as though Microsoft have screwed up on this one AMD processors (and I think mine is) seem to be particularly affected.
Watchword appears to be don't download SP3.
But if anyone has found a solution still like to hear about it and get an explanation in ABC fashion being a computer numpty.

 In that case re-set the computer to a previous GOOD running order:-

Start
All Programs
Accessories
System Tools
System Restore

Buy a Mac would make more sense :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: You wait till you buy a Laptop with Vista on it :ROFLMAO:

I think Vista is much maligned. I have had a Sony Vaio running Vista on almost 24 hours a day for 7 months, and have had literally zero probs with crashes or lockups. I play online games, edit video, watch blu-ray dvd's all without a hitch. Go figure...

some of the recent updates have screwed my java script, I reinstalled it and downloaded the latest flash player but still can't see utube movies. Still tells me no java script, it loads for chatrooms etc so why not Utube. A decent operating system shouldn't need a million updates a year ballsing it up every five mins.

Hi I hope this tip helps

Try taking out or deactivating one at a time your browser ADD INS

Usually they are the cause of most browser problems

I hope this helps.

Good advice and that's exactly what I'd try first.:thumb:

NOT 100% but worth a try as a diagnostic.
