 just come down the Loch Lomond road and an idiot mini bus driver took my wing mirror and smashed it !! Two windows cracked too . Idiot :Eeek:

Just had a lovely two weeks in the very north of Scotland spoiled in one fell swoop!

Flea bay hunt for new mirror and worse search for new windows begins ! Less easy

Tough luck, but not uncommon.

I've stuck some ebay high-viz tape on our mirrors, it makes us look twice as wide and buys some respect.

Same thing happened to us an the same stretch of road the year before last and really shook me up for a few days. Driving blind on those roads is not fun. I now carry spare lenses and complete set of replacement mirrors.

Dont know what Brian has, but IMHO go with 3M, who make the majority of official police and Recovery tapes

Hi
I have had the mirror done , what I have done on narrow bits of road is fold the mirrors in, because lets face it no one can overtake, I do keep an eye on the rear camera screen just in case so idiot tries it when they shouldn't. Pete

I just have a banner which reads

"F***** get over you ****"

Not had a problem yet.

Some funny looks though on the A2::bigsmile:

Not surprised with a banner saying "Flower get over you love" (at least I assume that's what the **s are for) :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Yup I lost my mirror there last December. Advised by Bunree warden to go via Stirling in future and it was a better return journey.
Being left hand drive I bought the new mirror unit from France online and much cheaper that rip off Britain

Thanks everyone  is good to know these things don't happen to just us ! Although I would wish it on anyone . Strange how these things stress you when in the scheme of life it is minor .

Didn't sleep great but today is the hunt for parts. It seems the mirrors for left hand drive are different to right hand drive ??

Yes as the arms are cranked to suit the driving position.

Yes also true as the near side has more magnification being further away from the driver

Probably this, cut down the middle. Plenty of alternatives.

This is what I have on mine! I completely fill the square section facing oncoming traffic and to date no problem. It fade's very slightly but at that price can replace every couple three years.

When I was in France three weeks ago a nice French bus decided he wanted to be in my lane whether I was there or not. Result was he clipped my nearside wing mirror. There was no damage except for the indicator glass which disappeared forever. Got a new one last week for £25 from my local Fiat commercial dealer. After reading this thread I now realise how lucky I was that the idiot did not do any more damage.

Well folks update is still no mirror as no one has the right one. Thanks everyone for the suggestions but no go . Think we will ave more luck when we get home. Temp repair with tape superglue has given s enough of a flat plate to house a mirror from halfords 12.99 !! At least we can see something !!

New windows from the Aladdins cave that is O Learys !! Safely underneath till we get home !! Will make do with clear tape on the old ones for now as not tempting providence!!

Thanks all

Well Spitfire, mine is a LHD Jumper,Citroen base.I had it broken in the UK and ended up getting one from Mirrorwoman on evil bay and dismantling old one from inside as the arm was still ok and putting on a UK mirrorhead. If this describes it well enough, the flexible arm was not damaged and would bend enough to give the same view and was far,far cheaper than any other solution. Not a difficult job.
Maybe this is possible.
