What an amazing place. First time we've ventured over there but the acquisition of a van earlier in the year gave us a great excuse to remedy the situation.
I doubt I could actually live there but we really enjoyed seeing the islands at long last. Of all the islands we did I think Harris will stick in our minds the longest.
One disappointment for me was the lack of any distinctive "island architecture". Due to the crofting system and property improvement grants, the houses are virtually all totally anonymous (and look ill fitting to the environment to my eye). That said, the natural wonders of the islands more than made up for it.
We took our dogs which was great but did rule out taking bikes as well which we would have liked to do. Have to save cycling for out next trip out there.
