Not at £2500 each:Eeek:

Pensioners can't afford although
NHS Staff possibly can:winky:

Sorry but AS Bikes £750 ea.

this mustn't be confused with "AS BIKES" or indeed many other electric bikes on the market.

This is the real deal, not a pensioners get to the shops whilst out in the motorhome bit of kit :winky:

Terry

That;s a fair qquestion Terry, So lets take your assumption that the batteries will last 5 years.

at present my fuel bill is £30 per week.

x that by say 48 = £1440 per year.

Less my insurance, of £31 per month = £372

Tax £70 per year

parking £17 per month £204

Repairs/servicing £200 per year

this then comes in at a total of £2286 per year.

Now before anyone starts on the charging problem, this is simple, it gets charged at work, so won't cost anything.

The current journey to work takes me 45 mins in traffic, I can cycle that distance on my road bike within the hour, so with pedal assist I could be there even quicker I suspect.

therefore by Terry's reckoning, the bike would of paid for itself by month 13.

therefore if it last's five years, my conversion from petrol to electric would of made me

£2286 x 5 = £11,430

- one bike @ £2500 and 1 battery at a £1000

then lets say £200 per year for servicing = £800

Total £11430 - £4300

Total profit £7130 over 5 years.

So Terry, put like that, does it actually matter?

You'd get a decent F650 for that and only suffer the rain for 30% of the time.

You'd not want to do your journey every day in the winter on any 2 wheeled transport so you can't get rid of your car. The roads on your route are lethal for a slow bike, you will hold up traffic every day, is that good ?

"Smart" costs £1200, the good ebike £1300.

I see they don't bother to much with helmets in the video:Sad: so they must be crashproof as well, bargain:thumb: I must say as a fitness freak Paul I'm Surprised that that you feel the need for electric assistance:winky:

It won't matterr one jot to me paul ::bigsmile:Even if you only use it 6 mths a year it pays for itself :thumb:The key word being use it :thumb:It get cold and wet in the winter :winky:Not for me but my brother(long time ago) paid as much for a normal pedal cycle :Eeek:---Compare it to a AS TYPE CYCLE AND YOU COULD END UP SAVING ANOTHER (ALMOST) 2 K EVEN on your figures :winky:::bigsmile:

Smart Bike

Hi,Paul that sure looks like a great bike for commuting but its very expensive take a look at the go cycle I saw it at the nec last year it was about half the price very high tech and folded up into a case if I was a younger man like yourself I would have one for everyday use just before I retired they started a scheme in work whereby you could buy a bike and the cost was taken out your salary every month and the choice of bike was very good maybe your employer has a similar scheme :thumb: Belay the above price paul I have just looked at todays price £2700.00 Geewhizz thats expensive.

well your right Brian about the journey.....

but need to justify a new toy to Nikki. So tell her the roads are gorgeous and it never rains North of Sandbach so I can swing it :winky:

I would have to keep a car sadly but no need for 2, Nikki can go on the bike when it rains. :thumb:

Seriously do you sell her "if I arrive home panting it's not for you because I'm knackered" or "I'll be home in 20 mins, turn the sheets down, I'm in the mood".

Your choice, be pushed into the weeds by a load of HGVs or be nice and safe in the line of traffic with a reasonable chance of nipping past a few safely.

Brian, I don't really want to ride it to work, I want to look at it in the Garage, but I can't tell Nikki that.

Does this apply Paul?https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cycle-to-work-scheme-implementation-guidance

I know in the past some people that have saved a lot of money on an expensive bike

Yes we have that scheme at work, but the government are very clever in how they adjust your tax to clobber you with it

Garage ?

Put it on the wall in the lounge.

I knew a GP who kept his classic Ducati in his lounge.

You just know it would get "Nicked" the first place I parked it.........

Just to nick-able.....................

Nice though, would consider selling our PCX125 for it.......... but will wait a year or two.

Why is it that anything with an "e" in its name or that claims to be environmentaly good automatically has a horrendous price!

I am sure its good, but worth 3 times as much as other electric bikes? No chance. Personally if I was in the market to spend 2500 on two wheeled transport for that I'd get a decent motor scooter. The small Honda is £1900.

We are in the Netherlands at the moment and pedal assisted e bikes are all the rage. Have had test rides on Batavus, Trek and the one which blew us away was the Reise & Muller Hybrid with Bosch electrics. Also well over two grand.

Never mind snapping, the main thing is no gearing. That can't work. Who's ever seen a modern push bike without gears.
