Sorry if this seems like a daft question.......but how does everyone clean their satellite dishes? Or do you clean your satellite dish?::bigsmile:

We've just traded the Autoquest in for a Dakota and we used the Avtex portable satellite on the Elddis, but the Autotrail came with a big Teleco dish and it's needing a bit of a clean up. So it's either using the rear ladder and gingerly crawling along the roof to clean it:cry: or using a big ladder against the side and doing it that way. What does everyone else do?

Margaret refuses point blank to go up on the roof:roflmto:

TIA for any advice.........Bill

dish

Hi

Yes, with a sponge and soapy water. I usually do it when I do the motorhome roof. Same for the air con unit, give that a good swish etc.

Hi Russell,
Thanks for your reply, the dirt is only noticeable when the dish is up:roflmto:

Just wasn't sure what to use on such a delicate piece of equipment, but will give it a go once I pluck up enough courage to go up the ladder and onto the roof:Sad:

Regards, Bill

The dish will work even it is filthy, the parabole just reflects the signal to the LNB, just look at some rusty old Sky dishes you see on some houses.

As said, just warm soapy water, or whatever product you use whilst washing the van, will do the job and keep it looking good.:thumb:

Our dish is inside the dome but I just wash the dome as I do the van....

delicate piece of equipment Bill. :Eeek:

its stuck up there in wind, rain, snow ,sleet and sun....i wouldnt call that delicate.

when we had the Kontiki, with a sat dish on the roof, it got the same treatment as the roof to get the green crap (stored under a tree, no options) and muck off.....a jetwasher.

You can keep the dish clean by not watching Babestation and Playboy TV!

self cleaning option.

when it rains, which is often where you are, simply elevate the dish and rotate facing the front.

start van and drive for 20 minutes.

if the dish is still there after 20 minutes it should be clean :thumb:

I realise it will work even though it's filthy, but as the rest of the van is relatively clean, I just wanted to clean the dish up as well:thumb:
The Sky dish at the side of the house is sprayed with WD40 from time to time, that appears to stop the rust.
