Hi,

Here's a poser for you techies out there!

When indicating LEFT there is a sudden drop in engine thrust, which only recovers when the indicator is centered. Happens at all speeds & in all gears.

We thought we had solved it after changing a burned out fuse for the Cigar Lighter/Radio. However, the problem returned today. When it first occurred, the Fog Light indicator flashed simultaneously with the left indicator!

Any ideas? Its a Merc 313CDi. Its been re-mapped.

Be grateful for any suggestions on a fix.

Cheers

Billkce

PS I'm currently in Southern Germany, so I cant just take it to my local garage!

its a bad earth on the circuit normally. it causes the circuit to try find another path to earth and in this case via engine electronics and ecu

And does it have a sudden increase in power when you indicate right?

Only joking. Yes, sounds like an earthing problem to me too. Loose/corroded connection somewhere.

start by the light fittings and work backwards. can be a needle in a haystack though. good luck:thumb:

personally I would do the basics then get an auto electrician to do it if that didnt work. bad earths are a real pain to find

belt and braces approach is running in a new earth wire and connecting to the bad circuit.

Thanks, again. Its not something I am able to do. If I leave it, until I return to the UK, is potentially a serious problem? i.e. could it lead to further issues? If I called out ADAC, do you think they could fix it?

Cheers

it has the potential to damage the ecu, but if it was going to do so I would of expected it to happen already. wait till you get home, just avoid using the indicator for too long if you can

i very much doubt ADAC would fix it as the vehicle is still drivable

Ford iveco auto turbo diesel 2.5 1989 90,000 problem

Hi,I recently bought the van admittingly it was only for the interior goodies and anything else was a bonus. It has turned out great really. We had sold our house and have been getting ready to go to france.unfortunately the day we moved out a problem i have had turned out to be needing an opperation. We have been living in our van and a rented room and working on our renault master at the same time which was driving my wife mad trying to cook as well as living out of a suitcase. This op now means the move to france is delayed by at least 8-10 weeks. So when this 21ft newly fitted out homebuild came along just up the road for a very reasonable amount i chewed his arm off.
It starts first time tiny bit of smoke sounds good.engine oil clean.
The van does not pull very well.
I have found the auto gearbox oil level has far to much oil in it according to the dip stick about 2x the correct level
Could this cause it not to reach its proper revs when driving.
I have now changed also the fuel filter but have not used the van as it is now our dining room and lounge parked up

Since 2005
incorrect autobox oil level will cause all kinds of driveline problems... one being, it wont change gear.
another being...it could destroy the box.

i would get that checked by an autobox specialist first
