Im a newbie
Hi I just wanted to say hello. I have just got a little tiny converted van - sleeps one (and the two dogs!) I have just moved to Cornwall and wanted to use it to explore Cornwall first. I need to figure out where I am allowed to stay overnight if I have to.:thumb:

Do you mean free also known as wild camping ?

It's not at all easy, seems a black art to me.

Because of inconsiderate motorhome users and jealous non-motorhome users there are bans everywhere in public lay-byes and car parks.

Legally you can park anywhere unless the local council has a bye-law in place provided you do not cause an obstruction.

Otherwise pay a lot of money to campsites or less to farmers running small campsites called Certified Locations.

Do a search on here for WILD CAMPING or WILDCAMPING

nobody has answered your main question yet so heres my view....

legally....on a campsite or private land with permission.

in reality....anywhere you feel comfortable, and safe, with, ...if you dont feel safe then move on.

dont make it obvious...table and chairs etc outside.

always expect to be told to move on and no alcohol incase you are asked/told

oops, Brian has while i was typing.

:Smile:Sounds idyllic to me, Melly. Hope you enjoy the van and remember if you can cope with a small one in Winter ... Spring and Summer will be WONDERFUL.:thumb:

towing for 20 odd years but now have our first motorhome.
Hi Melly, Welcome to the best club on the net!:thumb: As someone else has suggested why not come along to Shepton Mallet weekend 12 to 15 Sept and meet up with some of the Funsters, a great bunch of people who will make you very welcome.
Certificated locations are part of the caravan club and the only reason I am still a member. They are generally cheaper than campsites and only up to 5 vans.
See you out and about sometime
all the best
