We are getting the Portsmouth/Santander ferry next month.
But would like spend a day in Portsmouth to look over the historical ships.
Can anyone help with a 2 night stop-over where we can get a bus/taxi or park&ride into Portsmouth.
Thanks

You can park in the DDay museum car park in Southsea. Just email Southampton City Council, Parking services and let them know when you are looking at staying.
We have stopped there a few times

We tried to park there last October to overnite for the ferry the following day.
Some jobsworth on the gate refused to let us park and it was only after a argument and a visit to the security office that they let us park. Ours was the only van.

Is that in the DDay museum Malc?
I will look to see if I still have an email from them if so

Dear Mrs Smith,

Thank you for your email reference the parking of your motorhome.

The Seafront D-Day Car Park is a pay and display car park and provided you have paid and displayed for any spaces you are using up there is no issue with you parking up in this car park. This is also dependant on how large your motorhome is?

There are some coach bays that provided we have notice of when you are going to be parked up and you have paid and displayed, we are generally happy for you to be parked in these bays.

Alternatively to this, there is a caravan park located down in Eastney that may have space for you to park up overnight.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Matt Crowder

Same with me. I wasn't allowed to park at all overnight at the port.

We parked in the Travel Lodge car park which is just the other side of the roundabout.

We had an evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast and stayed 2 nights.

Very convenient:Smile:
