OK short and sweat:

  1. Is it required
  2. Do you bother
  3. What product, method do you use
  4. How frequently

6 people and 2 dogs for 20 nights in that last 2 months, god knows what's down there.....

As we set off either from home or stop, I put some bleach and some washing liquid (same as in toilet) then close the tap and drive with an amount of water as well.

When you get to where you can MTY, your tank will be clean and not smell like hell. ::bigsmile:

Empty your fresh tanks in there and then drive around to swish it all up.

Then dump it.

Thats all we do anyway

be careful as mixing bleach and other cleaning chemicals releases chlorine gas which is very dangerous

Bio liquid or powder will keep it odour free, put some in when the tank has some waste in it and you are going to drive around, job done.

So hot soapy water basically, with a good slosh around.

Coke?

On a previous thread someone recommended a couple of 2 litre bottles of cheap coke poured in... left to swish around a bit then emptied.

I tried this before our current big trip.... took ages for the fresh coke to go down the plug as it got very frothy. What came out of the waste pipe a few hours later didn't look very pleasant so I presume the coke did have some effect!!

OK job done. Used some bio washing liquid that we used to use on the loo, a good glug or 2 and a bucket of hot tap water. I left it for 10 mins then drove around for a bit before I emptied it into a bucket, quite a nice output:imoutahere:
