Grid ref, daft question (1 Viewer)

Never having used these before in map finding things , only post codes, how do you write them in, can't find a way of putting them in to navfree or google.

By grid reference I presume you mean longitude and latitude. On google earth you see the long lat numbers changing as you move your mouse around. I think it is in the bottom right hand corner.

On my tom tom I think the sequence is "navigate to" with the options of home, favourite, poi, place on map and long/lat. I pick long/lat and put the numbers in. There are three different ways of putting degrees in so make sure you stick with just one system.

I know how to find them but can't put them in navfree , don't have tomtom , have another satnav but can't put them in that either

One of the options for searching in Navfree is 'Google Search' I tried putting the numbers you gave and it came up with Avenue Jean Moulin.:thumb:

I inputted (is inputted a word?) the numbers,putting a space where the degree sign is as I didn't know where to find one. And it worked!

Aren't bothered, someone on the other thread said that was the campsite and I just wanted to find it on navfree , I have come up against this all the time, most of you on here quote them but I haven't found a way of using them

If you just copy and paste the whole number you have in to google it will give you a map and the road it is on :thumb:

Ok thanks all, I did know I could copy and paste in google, but didn't know how to write it in out guides and books and stuff, but it won't work in navfree on its own and couldn't sort out the degree thingy, but think I have it sorted now.

I have several apps that can send coordinates to other apps, but they can't send coordinates to my main navigation app- Navfree on Andriod! Come on, this is so basic & should not require a data connection like searching Google.

When I look at it on Google EARTH, take the ref then copy paste to check it shows me the view of the motorway? Can someone help me please.

Yeah I know , others on here use these grid references all the time but I've never been able tO use them, thought it was me but obviseiouLy not, bot found that if you put spaces or dots in instead of degrees you can get it to work
