I'm a newbie!
Hi

I'm off to France and Italy next week and just about to renew insurance.

Can anyone suggest a good company to go with for motorhome insurance, preferably with European breakdown cover included?

cheers::bigsmile:

We are with safeguard, last year was £312, this year £256, best quote from comfort was £320 with no breakdown and limited mileage. The excess was half as well.

Safeguard or Comfort seem to be the biggest and most recommended..
Was with Safeguard for 12 years and had to use the European breakdown twice and had a large scale accident repair.. All sorted, no issues.
Comfort this year as we needed Morocco breakdown cover.

Caravan Club for me, last year I was with Adrian Flux but got a cheaper quote with the club this year and I can add family members unlike Adrian Flux.

It was Frank Pickles, but Comfort beat them hands down, they have a special deal with Aviva..

I was with Comfort but the C&CC beat them by £50. They do recovery as well but I don't know the cost of that.

We have been with Comfort for several years but their quote was beaten by over £100 by Saga for identical cover. Comfort phoned to ask if we were renewing but when we said we had a much cheaper quote from Saga they were not prepared to lower their price. I think it is ridiculous that each year you have to shop around for the cheapest quote.

.
Searching around for a quote for our first motorhome due to be collected on September 3rd.
Saga, who currently insure my car refused to quote for the motorhome and wouldn't give a reason. Of course it was the underwriters who refused but the Saga person suspected it may be something to do with keeping it at a storage site.

I'm seriously thinking of having a solar panel, air suspension and possibly an ecu remap done after purchase, it will be interesting to see if this will muddy the insurance waters, I may have to tone down my add-on ambitions!

Certainly the recommendations in this thread are worthwhile following up.
