Can anyone help?

Trying to find a decent (if such a thing exists) 12v toaster for when there is no ehu.

Thanks.

I've never heard of one but will stand corrected! any electrical item producing heat on this scale is unlikely to be sufficiently powered on 12V but maybe an inverter could do it. Otherwise a Generator.
Haven't you got a Gas grill?

You could get An all dancing inverter but would require a 3000kw to run a toaster
It will be 12 volt blow heaters next :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Maybe a little generator or may be cold milk on cereal for breakfast :Eeek:

my toaster is 870w @ 230v
this is something like 70amps @12v
like someone else says use the gas unless you have inverter+big battery.
I think toast is better done under the grill. ( just my opinion)

I think you could be onto something!

Pop your toast in before bed, wake up to warm toast in the morning when it is done!

Would you save enough time for you to get the charger out and recharge the battery!:thumb:

I was always told that stale bread makes then best toast. I don't know if this is true or not but by the time this 'toasts' the bread it will certainly be stale. Are you sure its not a portable 'bunny burner?

Have never seen a 12V toaster, we have a 1000Watt toaster which we use on hook up, which isn't very often.
So we have one of these,(see below) it works very well once warmed up on the hob, dont know how you can get 2 slices in it though  But by the time the eggs are boiled, and you are feeding in the second/third slice its on a roll for the marmalade run after the eggs.(y)

Come on Funsters, this is a kicking to someone who asked an honest question. Think it shouldn’t be about ridiculing them over it.

I really do feel for the OP after all the laughter they have received. Everyone is learning and it is a honest question.

You are both absolutely right with your posts (y) but I reckon the OP has gotten over it by now, after some 9 x years have passed by. ;)

BTW, I notice that several posters in this thread are no longer active, with one especially banned for life.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Its just like a 12v hair dryer. Whatever the blurb says they are next to useless. Sure they blow well but the warmth for drying is miniscule and takes ages!!!

My two slice toaster is only 1600 watts so 133 amps DC.

Inverter or not that would cain the batteries.

Yes I realise that the thread is yonks old but in that time battery technology has come on in leaps and bounds, Lithium batteries are becoming a lot more prominent and 200ah or more is not uncommon so your 133A toaster load for say 6 minutes would only take around 15ah from your battery bank, solar would have that and more back in before the day is done.

It’s not just the batteries dealing with the current required to run a 12v DC toaster, it’s the size of the cables needed. They would be heavy duty jumper lead size. The only viable option is a low powered mains toaster through an inverter. That’s how we make toast, saving on gas.

Just get a 1000 watt inverter, we have a 2500 watt one and would wake up after park up, use microwave ans toaster. With two good batteries they dont run out that quick. 12 volt toasters were around many years ago, they were rubbish then and still are.
