Electric hob advice needed please (1 Viewer)

Can anyone tell me if a double electric hob with a 1500 watt and a 750 watt heating element is suitable for the MH or would I need to get the Kampa model with 2 1000 watt elements?

Theses are the two I was looking at and as you can see there is quite a difference in price.

Have you thought about an induction hob. We have one and its great, works on campsite electrics and is light and about the same size and weight as a laptop. Something like this Link Removed
They are fully adjustable and quicker than a ordinary electric hob.

it depends on the campsite power available. in theory in this country you get a maximum of 16amps and this will draw 9.5amps, so long as you dont put the kettle microwave or heating on at the same time ok. abroad 8amps is quite common and in some cases only 5amps. so be aware of its potential to cause you some problems

The twin 1000W unit would probably be better because you could use one element on a 6A supply and both on a 10A or above. There doesn't seem much point in having the hob with 750W (3.3A).

Very slow on sites in France and Spain. Have resorted to a gas hob that screws on a camping Gas bottle. It doesnt use much gas. BUSBY

Hi

Our Thetford oven has 3 gas burners and one electric hot plate - the latter is about 800 watts. 800 watts is great - boiling spuds, eggs etc and of course saves on gas usage when you are on hook up.

We tend to boil the kettle though and put the hot water in the pan, before adding the veg etc as the 800 watt hot plate is not the fastest horse in the stable at heating up the water.

I make reference to the Thetford oven as the 800 watt ring will give very similar performance to a 750 watter.

I have a 900 watt kettle and by the time its boiled i've drunk so many beers i forget what i boiled it for
