Step has seemed sluggish last few days but has retracted and refuses to budge ( better than being stuck down I suppose)

Looked on the board and can't see any fuses have gone.

No sound from it at all when I press the switch. Any ideas please?

I would first check it's not all gunged up underneath.

You can get a lot of muck and crud from the road sticking on the pivots and mechanism which puts excessive load on the motor.

Try cleaning it all up, it's easy to do and it's for free, even if it doesn't work it eliminates one potential cause.

My step suddenly refused to work, cleaned connections and no joy. Stood outside i could see the battery power indicator usage needle move as i tried to operate step, so it wasnt an electrical problem.
Operated switch and tapped the motor with a screwdriver step then operated, just needs lubricating now.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Was too wet to do much today but tried some WD40. Will give it a good scrub.

Is the motor actually on the step? Looks like there's a box thing on one side.
So wish I had more technical knowledge.......

The motor on mine is on the left side of the step, clearly visible and the wires push on at the top. Mine did it again this morning, sharp tap on side of motor as i operated switch and it works.

Recently fixed the step on our Autotrail Cheyenne. Exactly the same symptoms you mention. I had to replace the little white switch within the step mechanism that facilitates the direction that the motor works to take step in or out. They cost around £21 and are available from Omnistep. you need to remove the step to replace switch but if I can do it I reckon anybody can.

We had that as well until the tapping became hitting and then stopped working full stop.

Was going to try taking it apart to find out whats wrong, but i sold it yesterday so i dont think i will touch it.
Buyer knows the fault, its not a major problem.

Good thing to know though as I believe most steps are made by Omnistep.

I suppose selling the van will rid one of all the little issues that may require some work doing to them

A little extreme selling the full van for a faulty step thow:ROFLMAO:
Might sell mine when the ash tray get full :ROFLMAO: be quite a while as I don't smoke
