Saturday.
A smooth Stena Line ferry trip from Fishguard to Rosslare and now on site for one night at Wexford.
We travel to Waterford tomorrow to stay for a few days on the coast south of Waterford.
Sites are expensive compared to England at around 24 € + 3€ hook up + 3€ extra car although so far wi fi free :thumb:

Sunday.
It's been a chill day, a steady run from Wexford to Dungarvan, a couple of long walks on the beach and a lovely warm sunny end to the day.
Touring the coast road to Waterford in the morning and a look round the town

Monday.
Evenin all from almost sunny Clonea Bay
Today we drove the scenic route along the coast to Waterford , some beautiful coves , incredible scenery and warm chatty Irish folk.
If ever you are this way you must see Stradbally Cove, un commercialised, not a shop in sight and a smashing place to walk .
Waterford was pleasant with an interesting Cathedral , looks relatively ordinary from outside but almost Venetian inside with pillars and a very decorative ceiling, impressive.
Off to Cork tomorrow and again will take the scenic route .

PS not raining, positively bar balmy

Hi Larry. Hope you enjoy the rest of your visit & the weather is kind to you

Would love to hear you thoughts on the costs charged by all ferry company's between Ireland & the mainland

Last February Irish ferries charged me £457 return for MH 2 adults & a dog
Dublin Holyhead 2 hour crossing :Eeek:

Same month DFDS ferries MH 2 adults & dog £75 return
Dover Calais 2 hour crossing :thumb:

Hard to believe the cost of running a ferry for 2 hours between Ireland & Wales
Would be any dearer than running it for 2 hours between England & France.

All ferry operators On the irish routes have been getting away with this for years

Cheers

You need to do the ring of Kerry but recommend that you do this in an anti clockwise direction as otherwise you will meet up with all large traffic coming against you. Visit Waterville and say hello to my sister in Currans Londis. Plenty of parking and motorhomes welcome in most places in south Kerry.

Kind regards

Kath

Hi Tony

we booked through the Caravan Club for £187 which was some £30 cheaper than direct with Stena for the Fishguard Rosslare one way trip . This was for our 8.5 m RV plus 4.5m car in tow and 2 adults.

Today we drove to Cork (in the car) and in very warm sunshine enjoyed a wander around what is a very nice, interesting city. Also spent too much :Eeek:
We drove back and wandered off the main road to visit Youghal, picturesque Ardmore and Helvick Head.
There is no shortage of incredible scenery and friendly people, they all want to talk, so refreshing :thumb:
On the road tomorrow headed for the C Club site at Glenbeigh, overlooking Dingle Bay, for a few days .
Weather dry and not cold :thumb:

Today we drove from Dungarvan to Glenbeigh, overlooking Dingle Bay.
It has been a warm sunny day, beautiful scenery, rolling hills , cloud capped mountains, dairy herds in the green fields , masses of bright yellow gorse contrasting the lime green leaves of the spring growth on the trees .
Finally we pitch on site overlooking Dingle Bay and the distant mountains , then a walk into the village and a couple of pints of cold Irish Guinness that slipped like black velvet to where it belongs -

Glenbeigh is beautiful place and hope you have a great time on the ring of Kerry. It is well worth doing the Skellig Ring too and you can divert on to this and join the main ring again. From the Skellig ring you can see the Skelligs out to sea and in fine weather it is the most fantastic sight. It is signposted and you can pick it up just after leaving Cahirsiveen (going south towards Waterville). Also visit Valentia Island and go to see the slate mines.

Waterville although a small village has lots of nice pubs. The Villa Marie has got free wifi and great Guinness and good food. You can pick up essentials at Currans Londis and say hello to Anne, my sister:ROFLMAO:

Enjoy:drink::drink::drink::drink::drink:

A long day touring today, we left in toad at ten and got back to site at six, but what a day
A chill wind but sunshine and 12 degs all the way .:sin:
We headed for Tralee and then west towards the western most point of the British Isles at Slea Head and the islands close by.
On the way we stopped at Rough Point and its picturesque fishing port, then on to Brandon Point.
Lunch was in a typical Irish pub and served with typical Irish warmth by the landlady.:thumb:
We then crossed the Conor Pass, wow what scenery, to Dingle and then on to Slea head before heading back to base at Glenbeigh.
A great day out with loads of photo's and weather to match :thumb:

We are so jealous we love Ireland especially the west, less commercialised than the east coast, the only downside is the cost.

We probably will be in Waterville for the Charlie Chaplin film festival in August. Best rate for ferry is with CC at the moment. We haven't booked yet but will post costs once we do. Remember that the price in Euros appears expensive but when converted to sterling its not too bad. Diesel and petrol cheaper than here and what the hell when away it's better to spend and enjoy as there are no pockets in shrouds. Still to make enquiries about the guy in Mannix point

Today , Friday we toured the Kerry and Skellig rings in the south west of Ireland , incredible weather, sunny all the way and the scenery is breathtaking, mountains, plains, clear blue sea, rivers , waterfalls and everywhere in glorious spring colours.
To end the day a pint of guinness and an Irish coffee :thumb:

Sorry Kath , did not find the Currans Londis and your sister  but did go to Valentia Island , it was all absolutely beautiful :thumb:

Glad you had a great time and were blessed with good weather which is an added bonus. That part of Kerry is my favourite place on this earth and who knows we might end up living there yet!
