I would not think that many people would go through that regime every time they start their generator!!!:Confused:

The very best RV Generator tip that I can give is..

Rip it out and put the locker to good use by using it to store a Honda Suitcase Generator, 2kw of clean, quiet, inverted power running all day on just a whif of unleaded.

Is it me or is the bloke speaking the most boring man on the face of the planet :Eeek:

I was ready for slashing my wrists by the time he got to the oil change bit!!!:ROFLMAO:

Ive just put my generator back in the RV after taking it for its monthly "exercise" run round the park. They do get a bit heavy after a mile or so :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::Eeek:

Without a doubt the fastest thing i have ever driven :Eeek:.

If you want to get noticed........get a Ford F150 SVT Lightning :thumb:

I havnt been beaten away from lights yet by anything...not a Porsche, not even a TVR got close.............I love it :thumb:::bigsmile:

Mind you with the price of petrol at the moment  its a bloody expensive thing to run :Eeek: (12 mpg:Doh:)

Hi Jim I thought of doing that as my silent Onan probably consumes about 1 gallon (in old money) of derv an hour and it will not run if I have 1/4 tank or less and is really heavy! I could then have a giant pull out locker at the front for more junk::bigsmile:::bigsmile:

John, if you watched and listened to the video, there were only two items suggested for checking before cranking up. The remainder were periodic maintenance items which you should be doing anyway if you expect any longevity from the generator.

Definitely a monotonic speaker, but worth listening to.

I know i use generators every day !
But if you found that video helpfull you really shouldn't own a generator!

If its a petrol generator!
Check the oil weekly!
Check for leaks daily
Check the foam air filter monthly!
If the air filter is dirty then wash it in a bit of petrol, let it dry and its fine!
Oh yeah!
Change the spark plugs annually!

If you start it with a pull cord!
Start it with the choke on!
When you hear it pop!
Turn off the choke!
Pull it again and she should fire up!

Most important!
Read the operators manual!

Diesels are great!
My only tips for them is to give them a bit of heat! (warm the glo plugs) and never use easy start (unless you want to use it forever) otherwise they are trouble free!

Don't ask me about LPG converted gennies though!

Yep, I always warm the glo plugs. I do it manually on our boat, it's automatic (in the start sequence) on our coach. I don't know what Easy Start is, but I've never had to use anything to help start them.

Hi TJ

Easy start sprays contain ether which has a low flash point and this helps to start the engine. It can also promote severe detonation for the same reason and therefore can cause damage to the engine.

I comes in an aerosol can and it is said that engines become addicted to it if used too much they will not start without it! Same happens with some people:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: who can become addicted to it too!

Regards Pat

Thanks Pat. I've heard of folks using ether to start petrol engines, but not diesels.
