I'm converting my van from a submersible pump to self-priming Shurflo (?sp) system and I'm going to need a few push-fit fittings and some pipework.

Motorhome stuff is all new to me. Am I right in thinking it's generally 12mm diameter stuff? Any recommended suppliers?

Yes it is all normally 12mm, If possible I would go for the John Guest (black fittings) rather than the Whale ones (white) I've had more than a few of the Whale fittings let me down in the past. We normally use CAK tanks but most caravan outlets stock them.

yes it is 12mm.....so no point going to a plumbers merchant.

push fittings only appear to come in 10mm and 15mm upwards.
too small and too big for the sizes used in motorhomes

The only problem with plumbers merchants is they don't tend to stock 12mm fittings, most around here tend to only keep 15mm or 22mm fittings as do the likes of B&Q, Screwfix, Wickes etc

and plumbers merchants live in a world of their own.

i went for a few flexy tap hoses for home.

15mm for the basin taps and 22mm for the bath.

i asked for 15mm and 22mm......

so, you want 15mm to 1/2inch and 22mm to 3/4inch.

eeer, no...15mm to 15mm and 22mm to 22mm.

no sir, we dont work like that

it appears they wont fully metricate and insist on using a mix of metric and imperial.

copper and plastic pipe and fittings are metric.....steel pipe and fittings, plus taps are imperial
