I have a current Ducato cab and just wondering where most people fit their rear view cam monitor ? Dry positioned it in the centre but it sticks up pretty high, then tried the left hand corner (LHD) sort of in between the A pillar speaker and the windscreen, seems more out of the way but less in easy viewing....

I guess it's a compromise between not obscuring your view and still being in your main field of view.

Where's the common positions that people have theirs installed ?

Mine's in the centre, on what would otherwise have been the clipboard. Was already installed when I got the van but seems a good enough location.

I dont know for sure.

But if you screw anything to your clipboard and you have a pasenger airbag.

Bevery careful thats where the sensers are thats why itno longer lifts when 2nd airbag is fitted.

We have one that fastens over the rear view mirror (it is the same shape) so it is in the place where we would naturally look for a RVM.

I looked at removing the fixed clipboard but then found out about the 2nd airbag sensors. Is yours on top of the clip board ?

I guess that's the most natural location. My screen is 7" so it will be bigger than the existing RVM but I may be able to find a way to position it in front of it, running the cables will be a pain up there though...

The base of mine is actually set into the clipboard. It's a combined sat nav/camera monitor. The clipboard no longer lifts up although the clip is still there.

Ours is a 7" monitor which is fitted onto the original rear view mirror.

As we have no rear windows the mirror serves no purpose, so the monitor is the natural place to look for both rear traffic and reversing. :thumb:

Ours is in the centre of the dash and is housed in a console that looks custom made, but can't help any more as it was fitted when we bought the motor home from Germany

Will look at the RVM location tomorrow before I start ripping the van apart.

I have another question but I post another thread, camera location because of bikes.

I have my 7" monitor on the clipboard secured by the clip utilising a piece of non-slip mat cut to shape.
Its never got in the way and no passenger airbag.
Incidently there is a removable blanking plug just in front of the clipboard which is ideal for running the monitor's lead through.

Mines a right hand drive Ducato. I had mine put on the right hand side, just like the picture of the left hand drive on the previous page.

I asked my dealer to fit it there as I have a sat nav which I put in the centre of the windscreen.

The monitor does not materially interfere with my sight line and I find it most natural to view, particularly as I have no rear wood view due to the full blank back panel

OK went LH corner behind the A pillar like Techno and Cyclewalkbob.

Took around 4hrs in the end wasn't too bad running the cables, drilling the roof was fun:Nowink:
