Has anyone been to a bullfight in Spain?
Would you recommend it, or is it too gruesome and commercialised?
How to get tickets etc. I would be grateful for comments, or would we spend our money better going to the football?

There are very few bullfights left in Spain as it has almost been banned,
I would not go I have seen enough blood and gore on the Tv.If you really need to go I advise you to buy the tickets months in advance as they are sold out very fast. The cheap tickets will be on the sunny side of the ring ,the most expensive in the shade . I would go to a football match.
Good luck-

Hi, if you wish to see an animal made a fool of by men on horses with spears fellowed by more men running out from behind wooden shields and using darts on the poor bull, and then after lost of blood and weak from running around a bigger fool kills it with a sword and then they cut off its tail and ears and give them to the biggest set of fools who have been watching this.
BEST BET is to find one of the events that as the bull running around the village, no blood and don,t wear to much red.

one of the best and most entertaining thigs i saw in spain was a Mock Bulfight, very much like a real one exept the only animals in danger were the drunken British youths who volenteered to take on the Baby bulls,

Do you really, really want to go and watch some poor bloody animal harrassed to its death by a pack of prancing tailors dummies for the benefit of a few screaming Guillotine watching fisherwomen?

If you do - (each to his own, live and let live etc., etc., etc) I feel very, very sorry for you :thumbdown::thumbdown:

Hi went to a bull fight once the bull jumped out of the ring into the matadors area god them Spaniards can run fast when they've got a bull chasing them. I've no problem with the Spanish having their bull fights but I wouldn't bother again.

I always wanted to visit one to 'savour' the atmosphere. However, I was watching a bullfight on Spanish TV with extreme close-ups. I am not usually squeemish, but it put me off for life:thumb:

It does however remind me of this story:

An Englishman visiting Spain for the first time entered a Tapas Bar and was enjoying a vino tinto or three when a waiter served a resident sitting at a table with a huge dish of something produced locally.

The aroma of the sauce was out of this world and the Englishman asked the owner for the same dish!

'Lo siento senor, es solo uno plato el dia. Es la spcialite de la casa'
I'm sorry sir, there is only one a day. It is the house special

'I explain' he continued, 'during El Corrida, only one bull a day she is killed and I as a patrone are given the testiculos for my humble establishment. However as you are an honoured guest to my country, I will reserve el plato for you manana'

The tourist turns up the next day famished and ready for his sumptious meal.

When the dish is placed in front of him, it is very small, so he complains to the owner who replies

'It is unfortunate senor, that sometimes the bull wins'

Go to the football you will not like the Bull fight its a bit of a one sided affair when the bull tosses the so called fighter they bring in some one else to kill it! so the bull can`t win
