Well anyway, like an object of different shapes to put flowers in, this river has spelling in different ways, does anyone have any experience of travelling to and around this area of Germany? I know this question leaves it open for a simple yes or no answer!, however, an account of your experience would be welcome.

How many different ways can you spell Vase?

Weser (fastest flowing river in Europe) is pronounced Vazer hence I thought a reference to Vases but obviously not.

Yes travelled up both sides of the Mosel many times.

Strangely never down it.

Spent a w/end in Alf and Kockum (Q. ALL SORTS OF RUDE TAKES ON THOSE NAMES FROM THE WELSH WIZARD!!!) while on exercise in Vogalsang

Locally Mosel is the correct spelling and pronunciation

Can't remember too much about it except for climbing a hill and attempting to climb the walls of what we thought was Castle ruins, only to have a window open and be subjected to a tirade of German from the occupant. Our excuse was, it was our first experience at drinking Wine:Sad:

There was also a Ferry that crossed the river on a wire, no engine, just by using the flow of the river. It seemed ridiculus to us, because there was a perfectly good bridge about 100 metres up the way a bit

The rivers of Germany flow into the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea and the North Sea. The most important rivers of Germany are:

Mosel and Rhine valley's worth a visit but a bit crowded in the main seasons. also as Rangi has said Vogelsang in the eifel is worth a visit ( ex Hitler youth camp ) and huge lake.

Hi Folks, thanks for the suggestions, have looked these places up in "Goodie Earth". It will be off season so hopefully quieter.
Thought we would try this Mosel area for a change instead of France for our three weeks.
If we find a nice spot we'll stay for a few days, rather than having a driving holiday.
Thanks,
