Problem with the Cobra Alarm (1 Viewer)

We have another problem, this time with our Cobra alarm. For no reason at all the alarm went off at 4.00 this morning, at first we did not realise it was our alarm as we have never had it go off before! So we laid in bed complaining about the noise and wishing 'they' would hurry up and turn the damn thing off! We thought it was our next door neighbour as I could see a reflection of the flashing in our awning. Eventually we realised it might be us!

We turned it off, and set it again and it started to wake up the rest of the campsite!! In the end we went to sleep with the doors unlocked.

This morning we have checked the handbook and find that 3 blinking lights means that the bonnet was open. Obviously it was not, we pressed the sensor in and out a few times and that seems to be working freely. We switched the ignition on and it reset the alarm. We decided we did not want to take a chance that we would wake the site again tonight and tried to lock all the doors without using the alarm, but the driver's door does not have a keyhole! According to the Renault handbook the cab doors are locked with the fob, which automatically sets the alarm!

Any ideas would be gratefully apprecaited, they are very keen on noise - or lack of it - after 11 at night at Bonterra Park.

We are hoping that this is the last (there have now been three problems) since we have been in Spain for the last month!

One thing it does prove is that if your alarm goes off, nobody will come and have a look to make sure everything is ok!

Any info you get on here without a hands on will at best be guess work you might strike lucky so welcome all and any solutions
Mine would be to disconnect the siren till I got home or call out a specialist:thumb:

If your brave enough to risk it again to night put some sticky tape to pad out the bonnet so that the bonnet switch is pressed further down, it maybe set at the extream of travel and a gust lifted the bonnet enough to trigger it

Had a similar problem with ours only last week. The Cobra handbook is worse than useless. Whilst the alarm was'nt going off, it did'nt arm/disarm with usual bleeps. I checked all the magnetic contacts and discovered that one on the garage door had become slightly adrift. Once it was reseated with its other half, the five bleeps when trying to arm/rearm, was cured and it worked as previously. So check all your contacts including the bonnet and see if that does the trick:thumb:

Thanks Ken, hope you two are well and somewhere warm!

Michael has checked all the contacts and fitted a plastic spacer type thing, to reduce the space between the sensor and the bonnet, hopefully this will solve the problem. I think he will sleep with the keys very close - just incase!

if you can access the bonnet trigger pin then pull of the wire/terminal and insulate the end.

it only works if an earth is established via the pin and it cant if the wire is insulated.
