Great site, stayed a few times, not sure about the 20 pubs, more like 3 but all good. You have to walk along a busy road with footpath so hold on to the little ones hand. Good food. Well recommended.

How about Whitby castle? A 25 minute walk along the cliff into town with plenty to do. Ask for a pitch away from the the cliff side as it was a bit too scarey for the missus!

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
Talking about Fearby .......
The Black Swan at Fearby is a good pub with nice food and a nice camp site too. Hard standing and hook up if required.
You can walk through the fields to Masham to avoid the road ( advisable ).
The road isnt that busy , but it has no footpaths.
Drivers tend to speed and theres blind corners. High hedges :whatthe::Eeek:
We only walked the road way once. Won't do it again.

If you get rid of the Breweries it will be the pubs with no beer! I claim victory! If there were only 3 I would be able to have a pint in each of them and remember there were 3! Hence there must be lots.
Simples.

also on a slope with, last time we were there, deeply rutted pitches.

one RV sized hard standing pitch at the top of the site but the entrance, narrow and between pub wall and outbuilding wall, isnt suitable for RV,s .

Try Thirsk racecourse site it is very close to the historic town center and plenty of bars and restaurants.

Yes , we have parked in the carpark at the side of the pub ( Station Inn ) at the back of a hostel type lodge. You can get water and dump your elsan but there is no hook up.
Free though whether thats cos we ate in there that night , i dont know.
The camping is in the back field and is for tents. A bit like at Tan Hill Inn. Very rough rocky field. The food is typical country pub food. But nice enough. Log fires , real ale very cosy.
The only problem is that there is no phone signal.
I dont like staying away from the kids without being able to be incontact. I dont settle well.:roflmto:
The pub let you use there phone though. So we were able to give the kids that number just incase. Lots of people also park side on , against the road further down. Maybe they think they would have to pay , up at the pub ? Its part of the 3 Peaks walk.

The pitches we were offered were level and flagged or hard standing. Though you had to drive up to them , so to speak , to make the level. The site itself is on a slope though. There were several motorhomes on it when we went. No big RV's though.
