the toilet cleaners are pretty pricey, any ideas of other fluids that work as well as but are cheaper?: Pam x

Not sure what you mean. If you mean the fluid you add to the holding tank, then any supermarket bio wash liquid (usually about £1.50) works well. Its all I've used for years.

Damn! I was waiting to see what replies you got to this query as I need to do ours, but they are not exactly flooding in!

A little warm water and washing up liquid does for ours

In the past we have used kitchen sprays but that seemed to rot our sink around the waste fitting:cry:

For me, a non-issue as I don't put any chemicals or washing liquid in it. Neither do I make a point of any extensive cleaning. I rely on a SOG and simply swill the cassette a few times when emptying. When we get home from a trip, I swill it with the hose pipe a few times and store it back in the 'action position'. Very occasionally (perhaps once a year, or every other year) I might put Thetford cassette cleaner in it and leave it for a few days in the garage.
Most of the time I try not to kill off the natural colony of bacteria that forms inside the cassette.

If the question was about the Thetford cleaner, then thats not expensive as I only use it a couple of times a year so a bottle lasts for years. I have a free bottle but if I didn't would probably not use it at all, just rinse out, and off is enough

I've been using this for years and it's great:

"Blue Lagoon" made by a company called Taylor McLure in Yorkshire

Very economical - works out at around £22 for 300 litres

From their website...

BLUE LAGOON
Blue Lagoon is a highly concentrated powerful and effective cleaning fluid additive designed specifically for use in chemical toilets.

Size 5 Litres - £15.50 + VAT

1 litre dilutes to 60 litres, but is that in the cassette or pre diluted before you add it to the cassette? If so how much concentrate per full cassette?
