Jims Flashers got me into trouble (1 Viewer)

When I changed our moho recently I stripped off all the bits I could for transfer to the new moho or to sell off
Yesterday I came across a bag with Jims Flashing tyer pressure thingys in, great thinks I
I will fit them in moments
Fitted the fist 3 then on the last one disaster !!
I dropped the damme thing inside the wheel DOH !!!!!!:Angry:
No problem thinks I, pull off the hub cap and get it back NOT !!!
I got alloy wheels, so to get at it I had to take the wheel off
Now then, where the hell is the jack ?
Right, found the jack, now where do I put it?
By now it is starting to rain and things are starting to get soggy
You guessed it, Bloody wheel nuts won,t budge DOH!!:Sad:
Dig out big socket set
Finaly got the wheel off
Funny no sign of Jims Flasher ?
Spent 15 mins looking for it, then found it against the inside of the oppersite wheel
The bloody thing must have gone though the wheel when I dropped it and rolled over to the other side
You think thats the end ?
How many of you have tried refitting a very heavy moho wheel, in the rain,
that has to be lined up perfectly to get the bolts in, again DOH!!!:Sad:
After 2hrs soaking wet, totaly pi###ed off its all back together
I did not attempt to fit Jims Flashy thing, I am going to have a shower, drink a bottle of scotch and try again on Monday

You'll thank me one day for the wheel change practise Or maybe you won't. Now you have fitted them, you are MUCH less likely to run with soft tyres and risk a blow out:thumb:

What a coincidence At Marjal one of mine started flashing,so,I took it off to put some air in.As I was taking it off I dropped it and it went into the alloy wheel.
I looked around under van and could see no sign of it I thought,either I would have to take wheel off,or,maybe when I came off levels to move it would just drop out.
For about a week I looked under van every now and then and poked around with piece of wire-nothing. Then one morn there it was under the middle of the van :thumb:

Yes, they do an excellent job ( in fact spent part of Friday wandering around the site handing out Jims cards advertising them ) but... but !!!

The main component in them is ACTUALLY a mexican jumping bean !!

Very sneaky !!

why don't they supply a wheel stud alignment tool in the vans tool kits i have had many a car with an odd looking bit of steel rod with a thread on one end that strangely enough fits the wheel hub.

screw it in the hub slide the wheel over it screw in the other bolts then take it out and fit the final bolt then tighten the wheel.

i now it sounds like a pain in the butt and sounds slow but it is much quicker than fighting with the wheel and trying to get a wheel bolt to start especially down the hole in an alloy wheel.

Spookily enough.............

I actually make and sell these exact things for BMW motorcycles.. With a retail of under a fiver they are VERY popular !!

I suppose if folk wanted them for their vans I could knock up a few.. As they will be somewhat larger in diameter than a motorbike one, they would proly be about £6.00 a go in stainless

Yesterday, refitted both front wheels after having new tyres in readyness for our departure today. What a pain in the butt, also doing it in the rain.

I'm just refurbishing my 16" steel wheels by cleaning and respraying before the new tyres go on, better than those rusty rings showing through the wheel trims.
No problem with the Fiat tools either, perfectly up to the job.
