The most scenic part of Holland is in Limburg. Maastricht and beyond. Valkenburg and the area around has lots of campsites.

We can recommend De Gronselenput as a nice quiet site
http://www.gronselenput.nl

Well worth a visit further north is the village Giethoorn. Cant recommend any sites up there as we went with Dutch friends in their car.

.

Valkenburg is pretty amazing, it's the bit of the Netherlands that's above sea level.

Cute tourist trap too.

Campsite on hill above, easy walk into town.

Dare you to do the toboggan run !!!

Edam is a lovely historic town. We stayed at Strandbad on the Zeider Zee with fab views. Don't forget the bulb fields at Keukenhof in the spring. The 8th wonder of the world.

Holland also has some aires and 'mini-campings' which are smaller, usually run by the owner of the site (who often lives in the house), sites. They're a bit like CLs but allow more vans.

Another vote for Camping Warnsborn. Lovely part of the country, lots of good cycling, they will even end you cycling maps plus pleasant cycle ride to Arnhem and Oosterbeek and also the Airborne Museum just outside Oosterbeek.

Camping Den Driech is the campsite, we have stayed there on several occasions, great site and a great town

Touring in Holland.

We toured Holland last summer, found the Dutch to be very friendly.
Suggest you take Camperstop Europe and ACSI both very useful books. If travelling
via Calais.a first cheap overnight stop could be Etten-Leur ,some nice cycle routes
from here. Delft is worth a visit. When in Amsterdam visit Ann Franks house about
8 euros and the queue moves quickly.:thumb:

Hi good people,

Im thinking about a trip to Holland this year..........any advice or suggestions on quiet sites and routes to take.

If you've got kids, or even if you haven't and like animals, spend a day at the Ouwehands Dierenpark Rhenen, west of Arnhem. It is easily the best zoo I've ever been too.

Not only is it a very well presented zoo with plenty of space for all the animals, it has basically the most amazing indoor/outdoor playpark I've could have ever have even conceived of. And I've been to a few.

Have been to Holland twice stayed at Delft, not a particulaly quiet site but not noisy either. You can walk into Delft - lovely, train into Amsterdam, and catch trams to many places. Site is outskirts of town adjacent to a nature reserve with lovely cycle paths, Use camping cheques for this site much cheaper and you need to book.
