Firstly if nobody understand what I am asking here, no worries because I am so confused re this myself!! :winky:
OK, I wish to purchase an unlocked Huawei e586. With it, I wish to purchase a sim card, no problems with either issue or indeed, where to buy them from.
What I do have a problem with is the fact that I will need to set up APN settings. Now, my laptop has certain "issues" (unknown!), seems to be a software problem of some sort and being so not tecnical minded, even with instructions, I do not have a clue how to resolve them.
Apart from a sim card which I will use for the UK, I also intend to buy an Europa Sim. For this, I know for a fact that I will have to configure APN to Vodafone in order to get the best prices.
Is it my laptop (HP Pavilion g6) OR the Mifi that I need to set these settings on? (Warned you...lol!)
Many thanks for reading anyway!!
I might add that my laptop does not display obvious "notices" when I put a sim card in or anything of that sort, there is definitley something wrong with settings somewhere?

You should set up the MiFi or dongle for the different networks.

You dont need to change any setting on your laptop, you should use a wifi manager such as "3" wifi manager or dashboard to do this...

The setting are made in the MiFi...
I bought one for our Morocco trip and used a Maroc telecom sim card..
You can find most APN settings with simple web searches..

So I would download a wi-fi manager according to the sim card I choose? Such as T Mobile?
Then also download another for Vodafone so that I can use the Europa Sim when required? Or will just one download suffice?!

Surely I carry out the settings on my laptop though?

I use an ipad...
Turn Mifi on and look for the signal, connect.
Then I type in the IP address of the Mifi and go into the settings.
The APN can be set there and once done that is it.... Same would apply for your laptop, access via wifi and change the settings on the Mifi.

Simples...::bigsmile:

When you decide what sim you are using you can do a web search for the APN settings...:thumb:

I use the 3 wifi manager which was part of the MiFi software on my unlocked 3 MIFi.
This is the same as the image I posted earlier

I have entered all the networks for the sim cards I currently use along with the appropriate APN settings. They are saved in the Wifi manager.

So when I change SIMS I just change the "default" network in my WiFi manager to the appropriate network.

Just take care when you are close to borders that your sim does not "roam" onto a neighbour countries network. Otherwise you could loose all you credit very quickly.

I normally put the Network settings to manual so as to avoid this.
