Can anyone help with ideas.
We are booked to go to the Malvern show 15th August, and we are returning from France via Portsmouth that day.
Now here’s my problem we arrive back at the port at 18:20 and then driving straight to Malvern, we expect to get there at about 21:30, but the gates close at 21:00 and having ask Warners if we could overnight onsite, out of the way somewhere, until morning when we join the other Funsters, but Warners said no 21:00 is it.
Can anyone suggest a local stop over.

sorry cant help with a stopover but dont get too close to Malvern.

the roads around the site are usually 'no parking' restricted with cones

better to find somewhere a few miles away.

a quick look on google earth revealed a couple of big layby's within a few miles of the showground

There is a truck stopover on the A38 less than 1 mile north of junction 1 of the M50. Post code is GL20 6HB.

Never used it just know its there.

Dont be tempted to try parking in upton on severn. They have stopped overnighting and you will get moved on.

Eastnor castle is just the other side of the hills. Limited facilities but always plenty of space. I think some MHers go there to extend the show weekend.

The CC site at Tewkesbury is'nt too far away.

We stayed here, not far from Malvern - about 15 mins or so!

Not a bad site at all - nice facilities......you could even challenge the other half to quad bike tour one morning! ::bigsmile:

problem with these suggestions is as John says, they wont be in the area before around 9:30pm...cant see there being anyone at reception at that time

Tewkesbury CC site has a late arrival area and being just off the M5 is probably about half an hour shorter on journey time so might get there sooner.

If you travel up the A417 from Swindon you will pass a pub on the left called the Highwayman. They do good food and will let you stay on their car park. I would think its about 40 mins to an hour from Malvern so you should be there before 21.00.

We arrived very late at Peachley - as long as they know you are coming, they are fine! I think we pulled up at something like 11pm!:Eeek:

Not taking that short-cut I had an urge to do, which meant I was sat in accident traffic for a few hours wasn't my first mistake......desperate to settle down, I parked under a tree.....then during the night it started to rain!:ROFLMAO:

from Council website
overnighting allowed

Only if you are an HGV the site actually says:

"It is not permitted for vehicles, other than commercial HGV’s,*to park all night as our parking orders do not allow parking between 4am to 5am"

MHs were moved from upton last year when arriving late for the show

It is indeed Steve. We stopped there last year on our way to Goodwood FoS to break the journey up. Excellent food and very friendly with free WiFi in the pub too.

Eastnor castle doesnt have a reception, you camp in the "deerpark" (the deer are fenced now-a-days) where you like and the warden comes round to collect in the morning. There are no individual pitches and quite a lot of it is sloping but it does lend itself to peaceful camping.
I assume the gates are open at night.
