Teach peole to suck eggs, but I would put a bead of sikaflex on the bottom of the box and around the the down tube just to keep out the water and to add some adhesion.
I installed a camera on the rear of my van just by buying a big IP66 box from screwfix and some big glands to accomodate the wires.
Try not use silicon as its not very good long term for outside (wouldnt even trust the external silicone)
