Thinking of going to the Ile De Re when the kids are off at the end of May. Heard it's a nice area anyone been. We usually use camping cheques, but without a gold card you cannot book. Is it likely to be buzy, are there any aires?

Brilliant place, went last May.Not too busy then, great for cyclying mainly all flat with cycle paths around the salt marshes. We used camping cheques 4to5 star camp sites for just over a tenner with elect hook up,also bathing pools in that price.Same sites are around £30 in july, not sure price in June.If you need further info let me know,

We were there 2006 easter, and end of season last september 2007. We like it there, and there are lots of aires too tucked away in odd places. but we stayed at large open campsite with just adequate facilities in a more open natural setting next to the sea close to Ars de Re, very good for cycling everybody seems to be out on their bike, as already said, but you do have to pay to go over the bridge approx 13 euros for a motorhome I think. Definatel worth a visit, and La rochelle is nice too, with a reasonably handy municipal campsite.
