Off to Spain soon - plymouth to santander then onto Barcelona.

This will be our first time abroad in the motorhome. We land on Easter monday at lunchtime. Looking at stopping around Logrono off the AP68. Told most places are shut with being a bank holiday.

Looking at some alarms for windows and a proximity alarm (Broken Link Removed) in case of having to stop at an aire.

Are the speed limits the same as cars - looked at a few sites but didnt mention if this was the case.

Had wondered about putting some refelective chevron strips on the rear of the van but unsure if any legal requirement exists as to size colour etc.

Any recomendations etc welcome.

Thanks

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........

Look at it from the thief's point of view - see's the alarms on your windows and big padlock on your doors - thinks to himself "something worth a look in here" sorted the other vans around you with nothing other than the van alarm does not get touched and you get broken into. I was always taught a thief is an opportunist, so if you leave things in clear sight and fail to carry basic security checks you are leaving yourself wide open.

As the poster above me "UKBill" has stated do not believe all you read about Spain and theft. We live in Spain and a lovely place it is too. Just enjoy your MH and of course the sun.

Because we always do a fast run to the sun, we always stop on the motorway services. Always had a good sleep and no trouble.
Enjoy yourself and just be sensible and you will hopefully be OK.

If you have bikes on rack at back you will need a square red and white striped board on them to mark 'end of vehicle' (available at most camping shops)

Mike - is this now a legal requirement? I have never used one before in France, Spain or Ireland.

We were passing Barcelona a few years ago when a Mercedes pulled along side and my partner Ann saw them lob a large rock at the side of the van , they then tried to get us to pull over by gesturing wildly as if something was wrong with our van and slowing down in front of us .

Just be aware incidents DO occur especially around the big cities.

And the same thing could / will happen in UK - France - Portugal in fact anywhere. Key point of this post is Just be aware........

The red and white square is a requirement in Spain if you have bikes (or anything else) on a rear rack.

Just take sensible precautions & you'll be ok. Enjoy the trip.
