Only since 2012, but I towed for many years
My wife's wheelchair (20 years old NHS issue (that's the wheelchair, not the wife)) is getting a bit passed it (same again) and I am thinking of replacing it with an aluminium one.

Whacha think? Good idea? A folding lightweight would be useful in the MH, but would it be robust enough for everyday use?

Funsters' opinions/advice would be much appreciated.

Still learning since 2010
For everyday use I would think that they would be fine.
Might be a different story if you are in a wet and muddy rally field or similar ::bigsmile:

many many years! since I was a kid
aluminium chairs dont tend to be as robust as steel but guessing how long it will last really is dependant on how its used and the patient

technology has really moved on in 20 years and the old NHS chair is very heavy and uncomfortable by comparisson.

1996, then break 'til 2011
My wife uses a 'Days' aluminum wheelchair - weighs about 12kg

It's been well used for over 12 months with no problems - as good as any 'heavyweight'

Advice taken

We have now purchased an aluminium W'chair and its really good. Lifting it in and out of the car boot is effortless, compared with the old steel one. Thanks all for the advice.
