Calling all quizzers (1 Viewer)

1. I've been trying to put together a team to take part in the BBC's Eggheads quiz for the past few months. After discovering that my cycling, ex-work and beertasting colleagues are wussy wimps, I thought about trying the freewheeling, ready for anything community of the Funsters! I know from taking part in the thursday quiz that there's a lot of interest in quizzing out there - so what do you think? Whether or not we win, taking part is a different and entertaining experience, and would do the profile of motorhoming no harm as well! If you're interested, either post or PM me. I have the application form if you want to see what's involved.

2. To show it can be done, I'm appearing on the Channel 4 quiz show Face the Clock at 3.30 today. Can't tell you how I got on, but it was good fun!

To consider it, more info needed I suggest?

eg where is it recorded, how much notice do you get, does the prospective team have to do an audition (sorry you're too thick LOL) and stuff like that.

I mean I like to think I have quite a wide spectrum meself but I freely admit only of 'odd bits' and like on Mastermind General Knowledge I may score quite reasonably or get absolutely zilch, just depending on exactly which Qs you get!

I reckon for a fair bit, esp sciences like medicine or biology for instance - if you don't know the exact thing, you need to have quite a good knowledge of Latin/Greek, to work out the origin of certain words and terms.

Think doing summat for fun is one thing and taking it further might be another .... But big up to anyone that's brave enough!

Know what I'll be doing at 15.30 too ......

Cheers guys - I've learnt from experience that it's not so much picking a team, more finding people that are up for it! As for knowledge - the first and second multiple choice Qs aren't too bad, the third can be a stinker! But you have a one in three chance of getting it right...

To be honest, they're not really after finding Brain of Britain, more people who are up for a challenge. The process is that I'd put an application form in on behalf of team, then we'd go to audition if chosen, only after that would we be on the show. The audition would involve a mock-up of the game and a recorded chat with the producer, to see how you come across on the box.

I've pasted below the audition locations, dates are 25 - 28 Feb, 1 - 9 March, 8 - 13 April.

LOL - that one's a complete game of chance. As was 100% proven in the finish. I'm sorry when it's like that and not being a fair test of someone being slightly better (more extensive knowledge, better memory, or just being quicker - doesn't matter) on the day, you may as well toss up for it in the first place, hadn't you?

Shan't watch it again.
