Continue the Saga of my Truma (1 Viewer)

So Truma have emailed me to tell me that my Truma - in my 2005 Bursner 615 - did not feature in their recall.
So why does it dump all my fresh water from the mailn tank when not using hot water function?
When I did try to us the hot water the metal got very hot. I feel it might be an electrical short type fault.
Any ideas folks? Should I take it to a specialist? Know anybody in Greater Manchester?

is the dump problem a recent one ?

if its just started to happen it could be the auto dump valve which will empty all the water to prevent the boiler from freezing...pain in the neck but thats how it is.

i cant see there being a short circuit/earth fault or the breaker would trip, either in the van or on the hookup post.

not sure but there may be two heat settings, say 50deg and 70deg which, obviously, would be very hot

The two water heat settings on our van are 40 deg and 60 deg. At the higher setting the water is certainly hot but (though I've never touched the tank to see how hot it gets) we've never felt in any danger from it.

If you have any concerns I would definitely see a specialist.

First point of order is to tell us exactly which Truma unit you have, until we know that any ideas we throw up are pure guess work. Does it dump the water if the heater is switched on?
After closing the dump valve and before switching it on are you running the hot taps till water comes out in a stady stream?

I think it is a type c.
So am I getting this right? When the temporature drops the truma unit will dump all the water in its system and in the fresh water tank?
Going to wait till it gets warmer and try the boiler on hot water (summer setting) only.

Yes, the boiler senses low temp and the dump valve opens. Your pump will then run as it sees low pressure as the boiler dumps the water coming in, hence you dump all your water.
Look for a red button from your boiler to a line that goes thro the floor. When dumping it is DOWN. Hold this up with a clothes peg and turn your hot water on. Once the temp is up the button will stay up. Leave water heater ON as this will stop it dumping.
BTW yes tank gets very hot. :thumb:

Same on ours but on 60 you would not want to put your hand in it, which is about right, normal home hot water is set about 55 and that's hot enough to melt grease.

From the descriptions you've given on this and other thread I think it is probably a C3402 as in our (similar) van. You will find some operating instructions Here.
