My son recentlly removed the engine and gearbox from the Motorhome pictured. It is a Fiat Ducato Maxi ,Talisman C885 UMX. Chances are someone will recognise the old girl which is still in good condition although the other picture shows a con-rod has made a bid for freedom and punched a hole through the block. The customer assures us he checked the oil before heading home with his private purchase but it gave up on the way home.
He now seeks an engine which has been identified as a Fiat 1.9 Turbo Diesel D9B. It is understood the Peugeot/Citroen range is the same. Do any of you Funsters have a spare one that you have forgotten about tucked away in the corner of the garage??
He is very depressed and may even look to sell the vehicle as it is, but then it will need an engine ! ! !

Thanks for the suggestions but sadly " been there-done that".
Only real response to searches brings up "ideal engines" but careful scrutiny shows there isn't the one needed.

breakers 24/7 i got bits for my old van through it and thay wear like rocking hors s..t.
give me a day or two their is a guy in Bradford i know if he can't get it no one can or maybe a engine block?
was their a 1.9 or 2L diesel punto or other Fiat ?

take sum measure meant of engine mounts thay are usually two or three fixing point's on a engine so thay can fit it to two or three different vehicles.

start looking out of the box to Wait other vehicles Fiat put that engine in
i have had to do that before

most of the peugeot diesel engines slope back and to be honest if its a fiat engine then you need to look for a diesel tipo / uno or if its peugeot 205 / 309 / 405 or any of the boxer / C15 / C25 vans.

you will probably be better with the older style as the newer ones have more electronics etc.

maybe a couple of pictures of the old engine will help identify it.

Here are some pictures as suggested.

that looks like the peugeot / citroen engine as fitted in early 306's /406's citroen ZX , xantia better bet would probably be from a citroen C15 / dispatch although there may be some part swapping as the aluminium casting where the injector pump is mounted is a different shape and doesn't have the vaccuum pump driven the same way.

Sorted

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and thoughts. Due to a PM from Funster "TERRY", we were guided by him to a likely seller and engine. My son travelled to said seller and engine is to be fitted from tomorrow morning.

Seller had removed engine from similar van and price was reasonable.:thumb:

My son was suitably impressed all round and may even give me my £10 Funster sub which was money well spent, if only for the result achieved.

Thanks again

Peter ::bigsmile:

Glad to be of help:thumb:
I took a week or so before I saw "the man" for engine's ::bigsmile: but if any funsters get stuck for engine's let me know and I will pass it on:Smile:He deals engines daily, looking for engine's to supply to big refurbishing places. So it's not out of his way to look for the odd Wanted engine
