depends if there is a 5000kg version available.

your will already have been uprated to 4500kg so may not be possible.

give SVtech a call, they know what they are doing and will be able to confirm one way or the other.

I don't know what year you are looking at Eddie, however, after a front suspension upgrade, I uprated our Tag Hymer from 4500kgs to 5000kgs through VOSA. SVTech didn't want to know, unless I gave them £300 plus, to do it as a paper exercise on the rear axles.

Cheers,

Jock.

You really need to know the weight distribution.
I have 2100 front 2400 rear but 4250 gross. Last owner weighed it loaded at 1910 front and 1880 rear so stacks of spare at the back. Some vans are very badly balanced and are overloaded even on the front in some cases

if you are looking at uprating a tag if the rear axles are 1500kg each then should be a paper exercise alko changed the spec on the chassis when fiat changed to the x-250 and uprated them to 5000kg if it is older than 2006/7 then you may have problems as the older ducato wasn't as capable so were capped at 4500kg.

Its a 2003 tag alko set up so might struggle seen 2005 advertised as a 5tonner have to sit down and think about it :whatthe:

Eddie,
Ours is a 99 Fiat/Alko chassis which needed a suspension upgrade due to the wallowy feel every time we went into a bend or a roundabout. The cost of rear air suspension was prohibitive, so we looked at a front suspension upgrade from www.goldschmitt.de.
Please see a previous reply about the subject >>Here<<

Jock.

my swift was always front end heavy due to pod I think (hope) whilst in Germany looked at getting air on the front once they told me the cost I moved my batteries to just in front of back axel levelled van nicely better ride etc:thumb:

Eddie,

Our MH is plated at 1500kgs on each rear axle, but both axles have a tiny oval plate on them rating them at 1750kgs each. This is where SVTech get their extra 500kgs uprate from, ie, 2 x 250kgs, and it's nothing more than a low cost paper exercise for them, but an expensive one for the customer.

I can't comment on a more modern Alko Tag Axle Chassis, but I do know that where rear Air Suspension is fitted, it often facilitates an uprate in GVW, which would not normally have been possible on some vehicles. When SVTech supply and fit the suspension kit, they also do the uprating and plating as part of the same package, if required.

My stroke of luck was that I had paid extra for the Goldschmitt engineer's report which listed part numbers as well as the EU Type Approval Reference, otherwise VOSA wouldn't have wanted to help. VOSA (both local and national) were brilliant BTW, and couldn't have been more accommodating. ::bigsmile:

Good luck with it Eddie. :thumb:

Cheers,

Jock.
