Any suggestions for a one night stopover before an early morning(6-8am)tunnel crossing. No need for facilities as we are self sufficient, just a reasonably quiet spot near Eurotunnel terminal- max 20mins?

We've used the Drum Inn too but thought it a bit expensive at £15 (May 2011) but it is not far to terminal junction.

We always use The CCs Black Horse Farm site, when over nighting prior to catching an early train, it may be a bit dearer but you can come and go at any time day, or night, the pub across the road do very good and reasonable meals. If you are there on a Friday evening you can get very good fish & chips off a mobile van that calls there.

Military Road in Hythe.

On a wide roadside. A bit noisy but gets quiet after 1900 hrs.

Shops, pubs and takeaways in High Street. Park areas for dog walking.

Short journey to Chunnel terminal.

stop 24 Jnc 11 just before tunnel believe free for first 2hrs . Military road Hythe is ideal as Sainsbury and good local pubs and shops. Tesco in cheriton nr folkestone but speak to security or manager if staying overnight.
The leas Nr Grand hotel wonderful cliff top walk busy in summer 15 min drive to tunnel
