12 years.
A small book fell from an overhead cupboard and punctured the table beneath.
The table surface appears to be constructed of a formica type plastic material over a honeycomb cardboard base, presumably to save weight.
The hole is approximately 1/2" long by 1/4" deep.

Any sensible suggestions would be welcome on the material to fill the hole to maintain a firm surface. If possible a glossy finish to the infill would be a bonus.

Many thanks:Smile:.

Same thing happened to me..
it did not punch a hole right through though, but pushed a small section about an 1/8th deep into the table

Watch out for one of those mobile windscreen repairers at supermarkets.. I got one to do a resin fill on it.. could not even see it if you did not know it was there..

Then I done the same bloody thing again and have got to do another fix !!

Worst case, get a laminate sheet cut to fit.

Arty way, make a feature of it, cut a circle and glue something contrasting in it, a penny ??

Repaired ours with a laminate flooring repair kit. Heat up wax type sticks into damaged area then scrape off to level. Try Amazon.

My son had a hole in a chair-side table in his caravan, created by a falling implement.

I managed to rout a circular piece out and drop in a circular cork coaster, of course I got the coaster first and then cut to the same dimension.

He liked it so much we did other surfaces in his van.

many many years! since I was a kid
fill hole with 2 part car body filler and before it sets replicate the grain patern. then buy a colourfil pack from a large diy store such as b&Q in a matching colour and use that to conceal the defective area. just takes a little patience and minimal diy skills

otherwise speak to a freindly kitchen fitter

try a kitchen fitter...they have a range of resins for filling and repairing, many of which can mimic a patterned surface.

this company provide a service but you can see some of the repairs possible.

Simples !!!!!

Just use any old fillers and then cover the table with oil cloth (loads in Dunelm) and secure underneath with duct tape !
Did this to mine, looks better than when uncovered !!:thumb:
