A couple of Word Documents that will let you cost up the charges the French want from everyone when you choose to travel on the shortest route that avoid towns.
Class 1 is under 3.5 tons (not sure how they know that for UK vans) and under 2 metres high
Class 2 is under 3.5 tons and under 3 metres high
Class 3 the rest or if they are not sure!!
Looks like the attachments did not work, they are .doc and followed the FAQ instructions
They are bigger than the permitted file size so will have another look at them

I was told by the Control Technique this year(MOT testing centre at Arque in France for Heavy goods)....at all the toll booths there are pressure pads at the point of pay..to test weight.:whatthe::Doh:

If you go into search, and write auto routes there is quite a bit of info there......Del

all I know is that it costs

All I know it costs plenty if I want to use a toll route..which these days i do not.. I prefer the nationals.. see more and costs a lot less and when you need fuel then you can find the supermarkets and get it cheaper than on the toll routes.

Good idea both now in Touring section of Downloads

Make sure you are sitting down before you read the Class 2 prices that those under 3 meters can claim.
If you are over 3 metres high have a stiff drink ready.

Great if you are online but it does not seem to let you copy the pdf file

Hmm, have a height detector too as on 'Auto' tolls we get Classe 3 and we are 3.05m high. However, i press that green button every time and say cheerily 'Camping car - Classe deux,SVP' and sometimes it changes to Classe 2 before my eyes - before they've even said Bonjour!

On the manned booths, ALWAYS Classe 2 anyway.

And the price difference is shocking between 2 and 3 but there again, it's most likely the same price if you were a tank!

Oh - just remembered ! - coming off the A whatever at Montlucon it was a one cheval auto tollbooth and it came up Classe 1 so I quickly shoved my debit card in before it had a chance to change its mind!
