In the spring after washing the van it was obvious it would benefit from a proper polish, the gel coats getting dull etc, despite ringing a few contacts from googling and pm-ing a couple of recommendations from on here from which I had no replies, I’m still looking at a dullish motor home.

To make matter worse the sealant around the exterior beading/joints needs cleaning off and re-applying, I do realise that this sealant is manly cosmetic and the “real” seal is under the beads, but it must help with stopping water ingress.

I really don’t have the time/energy/skill set to do these jobs properly, and I’m getting fed up with people not ringing back, or people going completely into “bull sh**” mode when I ask simple questions on how they would do the job and what materials would be used.

Can anybody recommend somebody who is competent, trustworthy, reliable and within 50 miles or so of Doncaster.

Pity you are so far away, I would have either done it for you or showed you how to do it. You can count on the advise being right - it is what I do! I ran hire motorhomes which were resealed every two years. It is easy, but messy!

Mail me and I will send you details on what to use and how to do it if you want to tackle it yourself. You will need a good spell of dry weather or somewhere under cover though!

Be interested in how you get on. I've been using various polishes and finishes with only limited success. Think the last I tried was GTechik P1 followed by AutoGlym polish, all by hand, which improved things but was slow and a real pain to do on the roof and some other hard to get to parts. I know there was someone in Middlesbrough doing a valeting service but not sure if anyone has any comments on how good they might be. Will try and dig out their details.

I had my camper polished professionally earlier this year by a small valetting company in Leyland, Preston. I had seen them operating at Todds Motorhomes whilst I was in there. They did a wonderful job - cost £120. It has made a significant difference to the look of the vehicle which now needs much less cleaning. I will certainly be having it done again when the body starts looking shabby again.

Would you expect them to do the roof as part of a full external valet, or is that not a good idea?

Reckon that's the most important bit as it's most likely to be the bit most owners can't easily clean and is always exposed to sun, rain etc. I've come across Broken Link Removed and will be giving them a call. Would be interested if anyone has used them.

:ROFLMAO:When you speak to them, get them to put their ad through a spell/grammar checker. he is more likely to be "self sufficient" in water and electric than "self efficient".:ROFLMAO:
