Having owned both I can say they are designed for two different purposes. The Hymer will be more solidly built and better served on a Mercedes engine, assuming the Hymer is an A class it will be more likely to be winterised and better for use in the winter, where as the Autosleeper if it is a coach built will be great for summer use and with a monocoque habitation area will give you litle or no damp penetration. So your choice comes down to a) What layout you prefer (as said in earlier thread) b) when you are going to use your mh and c) the price difference if any.
As mentioned earlier the mileage is irrelevant at that age and for the use you will be putting it to.
It might help if you were able to say which versions of the Hymer and Autosleeper you are looking at.

NEITHER... get yasel an RV much better than either of them
Merce is better than the transit but both are cr*p

I would not be able to afford the fuel that an R.V. uses to get to the ferry never mind southern spain. Not many sites or aires you could fit an R.V. on abroad.

For all the reasons given I would say the Hymer, and older Hymers on a merc WOW.

We much prefer our Hymer 584, than our Autosleepers Executive, main reason that you dont have to make the bed up every night, just pull down from the roof, also more room and well made German van.
much better for parking than RV's!! everyone has their own tastes

I have a 1991 hymer on a peugeot chassis and hva not had any major problems in the past 10 years apart from this summer whwn i bgot a water leak easily fixed with silicone
sealant had perished under checkerplate on roof only to be expected on a 21 year old vehicle :thumb::thumb:
