Yaaaaa passed my Hazard andd Theory today lessons start 3 till 7 sept test on the 7th little drinck tonight i think :Cool: :thumb:

you dont need a CPC for private use.

I'm sure Motoroamin' can set the record straight.

I am under the impression a CPC (certificate of professional competency) is for professional drivers only.

as a none professional driver you dont need it.....BUT, it may be included (not optional) in today's driving tests.

category C is the old HGV 2......rigid vehicle over 7500kg.

C+E is artic vehicle.

It is 35 Hours of training every 5 years.

This is in addition to passing your required driving test.

Tests now consist of "Hazard perception Test", "theory Test" and practical.

C1 is for rigid bodies up to 7500Kg
C is for Rigid bodies above 7500KG

All new passes are restricted to a 750KG trailer unless you pass the relevant trailer test giving you a +E entitlement.

There are exceptions, but that's roughly it...

hi cpc traing is 1 week every 5 years or 1 day a year every year. Also its not necessary to do 5 different lessons either you can keep doing the same lesson 5 times and thats legal. Our last lesson was all about cranes etc on back lorry but we have no crane mounted lorrys or any one of us got a licence to use one. We all have artic curtain siders but hey ho it ticks the boxes and gives somebody a job. ivory 55

The CPC being referred to is the drivers CPC (DCPC) only required if driving a truck professionaly. The Certificate of Professioal Competency (CPC) is a different beast and is required in order to become a Transport Manager or an Owner Driver. I am surprised that the training organisation involved has not used the correct vehicle classification terminology, perhaps they could do with some training.

CPC'S of any description,in my opinion are a total waste of time and money.

The addition of the latest drivers cpc is a total farce.

There is no substitute for on the job training and years of practical experience.

Speaking from experience being the holder of UK and International Cpc's (34yrs)
Class 1 drivers licence (35yrs)
And having passed exams and held every position in the transport industry, from
apprentice Hgv mechanic (age 15), time served and city and guilds qualified mechanic
(age 21), Hgv 1 driver (age 23) Owner driver (age 25) Transport manager/Company owner(age 26). went on to build up over following 25years successful 15 vehicle fleet of maximum gross weight artics operating throughout Europe both East and West, along with a commercial vehicle repair company supporting the maintenance of my own fleet and those of many others, now retired at (58yrs). Still a director now of property company which leases my former workshops to a multi national company.
