My first reaction on hearing the story on BBC news a few minutes ago. The fact that it is affecting much of the network but is not location specific points to a software problem rather than hardware. Similar to the RBS/Nat West problem of a couple of weeks ago? Untested software?

My iPhone has been down since around 2pm.

Wonder if o2 is going to compensate me?

I doubt it!

I think this is a server fault rather than a signal fault.
So it will only affect some numbers, not all of them.

I think it an attack by aliens, they are targetting this government, RBS and now O2, next it will be RV owners, then Wendyball supporters and liberals...

We, the rugby following, Vodafone, slightly right of centre, bearded people are OK...

I'm surprised anyone in Glossop stayed with O2 after the prolonged outage caused by the Manchester fire in 2004 ::bigsmile: Wasn't the network down for a week then?

Inside information I have gleaned is that the targets of the alien attack first of all develop a sense of complacency before complete breakdown.

Are you really fully awake?

How unfair is that, Jill gets up at the crack of dawn, puts her teeth in and makes you a cup of tea in bed, and before you wake up you post.... I am still none the wiser.. Have you been snorting some Alabama moonshine with Slobobobobobobobo?

Why would I want to be fully awake? Might have to take life seriously if I was ::bigsmile:

Dunno about aliens but when Jill reads this there could be a nuke on Hinckley :roflmto:

Apparently the O2 problem is solved

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18816668

:thumb::thumb:

But notice that they have kept very quiet about the error which caused the problem.

The sooner the Freedom of Information Act is extended to cover major private sector companies like O2 the better. Only then might we see some proper corporate responsibility and customer service.
