Dieppe - Roscoff - aires and sites please (1 Viewer)

Thinking of doing a round trip next week, Newhaven - Dieppe a week touring to return Roscoff - Plymouth.
Would like to alternate Aires and sites. Just the 2 of us, no kids. A few sugestions for stop overs, places to visit would be great (wife is in wheelchair).

Camping Sainte Clare, Rue Saint Clare, Neufchatel-en-Bray

33 alms from Dieppe on the D1 .. nice road.. also there is a fast parrallel road.. come out of docks via the tours direction and follow the signs for Rouen then drop on tot he N1 camp site well sign posted.

In the ACSI book has good rates even in season... fantastic facilities for a 2 star .. good for wheelchair.. has a proper disable shower and toilet and even the small restaurant is flat and level.
Good size pitches .. 6 or 10 amps ehc and good water.

200 mtrs from the latest E'lecrec and the town centre is 1 klm from site.. nice town.. spent many a time at this site.. easy run out of Dieppe.

I can highly recommend Camping Municipal du fond de la Baie at Locquirec - stunning location right on the very edge of the Bay.

It's then only 48kms to Roscoff

Aires at Dieppe

Hi, there are two separate aires at dieppe harbour entrance ,one with a bourne on and one across the harbour entrance without one :Wink but strangely they are both 7 euros a night so go for the one with the cliffs behind you far better views and a lot quieter theres a big market on saturdays go early its really cheap for the fresh produce and of course if you like fish its the place to be :thumb:

There's a free 24 hour town centre aire in Link Removed if you want to see the sights there.

There's also an impressive medieval chateau and two free Aires at Fougeres NE of Rennes. The smaller Aire next to the chateau is the nicer of the two. Apparently Fougeres is sometimes referred to as 'the Carcassonne of the north'.

If you've never visited Brittany's Pink Granite Coast before you'd be a fool to pass it by - the Aire at Tregastel-Plage is one of our favourite stopovers in France, and is not far from Roscoff either. On a sunny day the Ile Renote takes some beating for coastal scenery.

burstner: Sorry, just re-read your post in full. Regarding wheelchair access, the main visitor attractions in Bayeux (Tapestry, Cathedral, Battle of Normandy Museum, Military cemetery) are all accessible. The latter two are opposite each other and have good MH parking nearby. The chateau at Fougeres has level access but is on a bit of a slope inside, and the main town is on a hill so you might want to give that a miss. The coastal path next to the Tregastel-Plage aire and access to the town centre are all pretty much level, and there's a large supermarket opposite the aire. There's MH accessible parking closer to the Ile Renote (which is lovely, with level paths) and the more popular seafront areas.
