Hi,
Has anyone been to the Pontefract Liquorice Festival in the past.
This year it is on the 8th July and CC&C have a site on the racecourse I believe.
They apparently have liquorice beer, liquorice pies along with sweets and street entertainers.
We thought it would make a nice stop over on our way to Rutland Water Fun Rally.
Any information would be helpful.
If we turn up at Rutland looking like Bertie Basset you'll know what we have
been eating :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Kind regards

non as yet, hired in Canada a couple of times. hope to buy in the next few years.
Must be a new thing can't remember there being a licquorice festival when I was young(er). Can remember when they had illuminations around the park pond in Ponte Park (just like Blackpool!). Used to walk the dog round the race course.

You must have lead a sheltered life apparently the monks brought the
liquorice plant to Pontefract in 1060 according to the web site and the festival
has been going for some years possibly started by Wilkinsons selling penny
liquorice coins. :ROFLMAO:
I think it will be a different day out and we will be going just to try some yum, yum,
The liquorice pies and the stout and beer will possibly be an acquired taste though:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I knew that Pontefract made liquorice in the factory there , like Sue , but didnt know that they held a yearly festival for it either.
Its only 10 minutes down the motorway too.
I must get out more:Doh:
